Restaurant Review: The Indigo Cafe in San Diego, California
Located at Sixth Avenue, San Diego, California 92101
The Location
The location is perfect for those that work downtown and need a quiet place to get lunch. It is also perfect for residents of Bankers Hill, a community two to five blocks north, because the walk downhill is normally pleasant and peaceful.
The Food
Whether you are looking to spend five or thirty five dollars on lunch, breakfast or dinner, The Indigo Café is the place for you. After having tried several items on the menu, I am hooked on the steak, the blackened salmon, and their breakfast. The steak is cooked to order and comes with a side of vegetables. Add a salad and a tip and the damage is only twenty bucks. The blackened salmon comes on a bed of rice with vegetables. Add a salad to that and you're out only fifteen bucks. The breakfast menu contains all the usual items such as omelets, and eggs a la carte. The coffee is hot and the hash browns are to die for.
The Service
The Indigo Café has one other location in Kearney Mesa. The Downtown location is owned by two women: Gretchen and Tiffany. The staff is trained very well and provides a very homey feeling for the customers. The staff is willing to make adjustments to the menu to provide a very personal experience. They always make sure that your food is perfect and are very accommodating to your special needs. For instance if you really want to watch a baseball game while you're having lunch on Friday afternoon, they would be more than happy to turn the television to your favorite channel.
The Atmosphere
The Indigo Café is a blues bar/restaurant. The music in the background is always high quality blues from the past and present. The walls are donned with pictures of the great blues musicians. About half of the tables provide window seating which makes for great entertainment if you like people watching. Additionally, five tables are located outside which provide for an outstanding outdoor eating experience. If you're the quiet type, tables in the corner can give you the privacy that you need. If you're a people person and do not dare to eat alone. Bring ten or fifteen of your friends; they will put a couple tables together for you. Eat at the Indigo Café and tell them I sent you. Ask for Heidi.

Post a CommentWhen we were at the Holiday Inn Express we had many meals at the Indigo Cafe. We were in San Diego for Comic Con. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and Bill and Yolanda. We were there from Grande Prairie Alberta & were made to feel at home. Bills Canadian jokes were quite funny.
