Restaurant Review: Jameson's Char House, Arlington Heights, Illinois

Where You Will Get Lots of Good Food

"Char" in Jameson's Char House doesn't mean charred; rather, this Arlington Heights restaurant charbroils its food to hold a charcoal grilled flavor. Upon returning to Chicago from a shopping trip last summer, my boyfriend Dan and I decided to get dressed up and go on a real date. We needed to find a nice restaurant that wasn't too expensive, and I love steakhouses, so we decided to visit Jameson's Char House in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Jameson's Char House: The Atmosphere

When we entered the restaurant, we got a few stares. Were we too dressed up? The restaurant's general vibe felt semi-formal; the decor was relaxed, but the tables were dressed up in white tablecloths and the waiters wore white button-ups with ties. I decided to relax and enjoy our nice dinner in our semi-formal attire.

Jameson's Char House: The Menu

It was truly enjoyable. The waiter was very friendly and served us in a timely manner. We ordered salads with our beverages, so I dug in while we waited for the main course to arrive. Of course, some of you may remember that I love salads with my dinner.

Not only does the entree come with a salad, but you will get soup, as well. Both were very delicious. And if I remember correctly, the waiter brought us some bread before anything else. Needless to say, by the time our main course arrived, we were already full.

I had ordered some pork chops that were on special that night. I can't find it on the menu anymore, but I'm pretty sure it had some type of lemon peppered sauce on top. This was the only thing I didn't like about the meal; the potatoes that came with it were delicious.

Jameson's Char House: The Prices

For a nice restaurant, the prices at Jameson's Char House were very reasonable. Most of the entrees are around $13.95 to $18.95. The amount we paid for two meals was extremely reasonable for all the food we got.

I was too full to finish my pork chops, anyway, so I had the leftovers boxed up (and no, we didn't order dessert). But since I didn't particularly enjoy the sauce, I never did finish them. Despite this, I would give Jameson's an A for the grade. It was nice, but not too expensive. And we got a lot of food for our money. We left feeling very, very full.
