Restaurant Review: John's Steak and Seafood in Zephyrhills, Florida

John's Steak and Seafood Restaurant is located at 38361 County Road 54, Zephyrhills, Florida and is a decent establishment to have a nice meal. I have been dining there occasionally over the last 12 years and have never been disappointed with a meal.

When I first began visiting this restaurant, the decor left quite a bit to be desired with the art deco colors and way too bright atmosphere , but has since vamped it up a little with black booths and table cloths, even if the tables are covered with white paper, it's enough to add a little class to the place. It makes for a simple romantic dinner so long as you arrive after the early bird crowd moves on. Also a nice place to have a drink at the bar if you so desire, but the bar is located off one side of the restaurant, so it is not secluded. Personally, I would love to see them enclose the bar area with a double door-way access into the restaurant. That way, to please a more diverse crowd, they could have the bar area a little darker for those who want a more romantic dinner, and the rest of the restaurant brighter and more family oriented. Those who live in Zephyrhills know we could use a nice, quiet and romantic place to dine and have a drink.

Some of my favorite dishes at John's is the Greek Chicken which has a wonderful seasoning and a good bite of lemon flavor. The ribs are always fall off the bone tender with a delicious barbecue sauce. You also can't go wrong with the all you can eat snow crabs when offered. The also offer several other seafood dishes, pastas and of course steaks. Trust me when I say everyone in your party should easily find something they like to eat here as the menu offers a lot of choices. A good choice for a homemade-like meal and if that's what you're looking for I would also advise you to order the mashed potatoes with gravy. You can get a nice meal with sides and a salad bar and stay well under $20.

The other thing I really like about this restaurant is their salad bar which comes with most meals, but can also be added for a little extra dough. The salad bar at John's Steak and Seafood is one of the better ones in town when it comes to variety. You'll find all sorts of delectable options on the bar along with the usual lettuces, spinach, tomatoes, peppers, onions and so much more I can't possibly name them all. Here you also get a variety of salads such as potato, usually a couple different macaroni salads, coleslaw, carrot/raisin salad and much more. If you are into hot stuff you have to try one of their pepperoncini peppers. I don't know where they get them, but I am always amazed at how hot they are. Don't forget to grab a bowl of the soup, a different choice daily, when you get to the end of the long salad bar.

We were so dissapointed in Johns Restaurant on a recent visit....
Our waitress was abrupt and hollared at us for going to the salad bar before she had our orders....the salad bar was not filled up and there were no fruits such as pineapple or jello for dessert. My veal parmeson was tough and I should have sent it back..but neglected to...
we will never go back ............
