Restaurant Review: Just Around the Corner in Bandra, Mumbai, India

Just Around The Corner, or what is more commonly referred to as JATC, is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in the suburb Bandra. With its lovely interiors, pleasant exterior and great food, its definitely a great place to catch up with friends for lunch or dinner.

Locating JATC can be quite challenging. It's very close to the popular Pali Naka junction in Bandra. From there its just one turn away, so it would be best to simply ask someone for directions once you reach Pali Naka. It's easily identifiable with its bright green board.

JATC has a central eating area & kitchen which is flanked on the outside by a outdoor veranda. The interiors are very nicely done and give a clean chic look. Flat screen TVs greet you whichever direction you look. Right in front of you is the kitchen which runs parallel to the wall. Its laid out similar in form to that of a buffet table. The concept being one has to walk through to decide what they want to order. Everything is made in front of you and as you walk through, the menus are hung on the wall in front of you. It can be a little confusing, but just follow the crowd if in doubt.

Try the chicken sandwich or the burger. I particularly enjoyed these 2 dishes although the group I was with complained about the lack of taste and staleness of their dishes. I hope it was just a case of bad luck. The pricing is on the higher side with a chicken sandwich costing rupees 170 and a bottle of water costing rupees 40. The service wasn't all the impressive with our server taking forever to fetch our pizza. He claims he could not find us!

All in all, the ambience is very nice and food menu is interesting. The service and layout of the kitchen could be reworked to be more user friendly but other than that I think the place deserves a thumbs up. There is a Café Coffee Day attached to the establishment and one can choose to enjoy coffee from there is they so choose. It's a great place to watch a cricket match as well.
