As a combination KFC Taco Bell, the location does not have the full menu that a regular KFC or Taco Bell has. This is not a problem for someone like myself that is more interested in convenience than in getting one's favorite item. Unfortunately, some people presume that their favorite item is available even if they do not see it on the menu.
The assumptions of customers would not be so bad if the cashier would realize that the customer is ordering something that is not on the menu. Unfortunately, at this particular location, the cashiers seem not to catch when a customer orders something that is not available. This problem extends not only to items not on the menu, but also to items that are simply out of stock.
On all three visits that I made to this location in May 2010, there was at least one item that was out of stock each visit. And I or someone in my family would just happen to order it. The cashier would ring up the item, collect the money, and it would not be until the kitchen prepared the meal that it would be discovered that the item was unavailable because it was out of stock. If it was just me that was inconvenienced by this, I would rack it up to simply being my own bad luck.
Unfortunately, my wife has an allergy to wheat products. She cannot eat anything on the KFC menu that is breaded. She also cannot have anything spicy. Therefore, ordering and paying for a grilled chicken meal, and then being told several minutes after paying for it that the location is all out of the grilled chicken is a major inconvenience.
Besides my own family being plagued by this problem, I watched other customers forced to deal with this same problem. There is a distinct lack of communication between the kitchen staff and the cashiers at this location. There is also no apparent management on-site either.
And even when the item was in stock, there were problems. Missing items were rampant both in my own orders as well as those of other patrons. The problem included large items that should not be easily overlooked (how do you not notice a bucket of chicken is missing). Even when all the items seemed to be in the bag, one would discover that at least one of the items was not what you ordered.
It does not matter whether you order from the Kentucky Fried or Taco Bell side of the menu, your order seems doomed to be messed up at this location. Based on my visits to this location in the month of May, I am going to hesitate going back to this location in the future. This restaurant rates only a half of a star out of five.
The only positive thing I have to say is that I discovered that the KFC hot sauce is better than any of the Taco Bell versions. If that is not a sad commentary, both on this round of visits at this location and the merit of the two restaurant chains in question, I don't know what is.
