The atmosphere at King Louie's is great. When you arrive you have a choice as to whether you want to stay in your car and be served or eat inside. Being a drive-in, many folks opt to eat in their cars, which is what our family did on this occasion. At King Louie's you have a large menu on the front and sides of the building in which to order from. When you know what you want you simply turn your headlights on and one of the waitresses will come out to your car and take your order.
The most popular menu choice is the old fashioned King Louie hamburger with cheese and all the trimmings. This is what I ordered along with a side of onion rings and a root beer. The waitress mentioned the fact that the root beer is a house specialty and is another reason for King Louie's popularity. For less than $5.00 you can't beat it! My wife ordered chicken strips and a side of chili cheese fries. The waitress was very friendly and immediately turned in our order.
Our order only took approximately 10 minutes to get back out to us. The waitress brought it out and was very courteous in asking if we needed anything else. You pay her for the food and we also gave her a nice tip. When I took a look at my cheeseburger I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was. Stacked on an oversized bun, my burger had lettuce, tomato, onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles. Taking one bite I immediately knew why King Louie's is so popular!
My wife's chicken strips were very good, but it was the chili cheese fries that really took the prize of the day. With a large basket of fries, they really do not skimp on piling on the chili and cheese. They were delicious to say the least. And the root beer was just as good as the waitress had mentioned.
Although the drive-in was busy at the time we ate there, it was very well kept up. There was no trash lying on the ground and the service was very quick.
Our family really enjoyed King Louie's Drive-In. With their good food, good service, and the wonderful drive-in atmosphere, it's a place I would highly recommend going out to eat a quick meal at.
