I highly recommend starting with an appetizer. Their fried mozzarella is outstanding. Just about everything on their menu is very good, from the pizza to the burgers to the pasta to the excellently prepared wraps.
While you are dining, you can watch any number of televisions, but with food so good, you will be able to ignore them completely if you so choose. This is a great place to dine during the big games. It is also a pretty damn good compromise for a date. She gets to go out to eat; he gets to catch the game.
Liberty Bar is also a pretty fantastic bar. Their drinks are strong and reasonably priced. The spacious oval-shaped bar has plenty of room, and the crowd is usually energetic and fun. The one downside is their music. Liberty Bar and Grill has some of the worst deejays in the history of Hoboken, and that could put a real downer on your night.
Still, it's a fun, fair, and reasonably priced place to grab a bite. The service is adequate, and the place is nice and spacious.
My friend Gabe says of Liberty Bar and Grill: "It's a great place to grab lunch. It's laid back, with a blue collar clientele. And at night, it's an excellent place to catch the game, while having dinner and downing a few beers."
My friend Brian says of Liberty Bar and Grill: "I love Liberty Bar and Grill. They have good food, and you can't beat the prices. Everything else in uptown Hoboken is outlandishly priced, and the food at places like City Bistro just doesn't compare. It's also the best place in Hoboken to catch the big game."
My friend Julie says of Liberty Bar and Grill: "I don't like the Liberty Bar. It's dingy. I know a lot of guys like it, but it's just not my thing."
My friend Diana says of Liberty Bar and Grill: "The appetizers are really good, especially after you've been drinking all afternoon. I like the food; it's yummy. I'm not into sports, but sports don't really get in the way of the atmosphere at Liberty, even though it's technically a 'sports bar.'"
