Restaurant Review: Little King

On a recent trip to Omaha's Old Market, my family and I decided to grab a bite to eat at "Little King;" a deli restaurant located at 1201 Howard Street.

We had never eaten there before and decided that we'd give it a shot instead of eating at the usual "Subway" restaurant.

When we walked in I was happily surprised by the condition of the deli. The dining area was comprised of a dozen or so tables and chairs that were all very clean and kept in order. Although patio seating was available we decided to stay indoors because of the hot temperatures outside. Considering the summer weather, there wasn't a single pesky bug to be found inside the whole establishment which was a great surprise.

The cooking area was very well kept, organized, and meticulously clean containing any condiment that you could ever want.

The staff at "Little King" was very friendly and went out of their way to make our dining experience a positive one. For example, when we told them that we had never eaten at any of the "Little King" locations they were quick to make suggestions about what to order. They were very patient as we mulled over in our minds which would be the best selection for each of us and not once did they get inpatient, frustrated, or make us feel as if we were wasting their time.

In addition to their patience, the staff at "Little King" went out of their way to make us feel appreciated, valued, and cared about by giving us a discount off of our bill and 2 free delicious brownies as a way of saying thanks for giving them our business. We've never experienced anything close to that from a regular chain sandwich shop.

Not only was the environment and the staff great at "Little King," the food was like none we've ever tasted before. The chicken that was used in my sandwich was actual chicken, not previously frozen or altered in any way. The food tasted fresh, was of outstanding quality, and tasted absolutely awesome.

The portion sizes were very generous at "Little King" and although we ate in the early afternoon we were still full in the evening and because of that we skipped dinner.

Our overall experience at "Little King" was a great one and we will go back to visit again. The staff was professional and provided excellent customer service, the food exceeded our expectations, and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere.
