Restaurant Review of the Lobster in Santa Monica, Ca

The next time that you are in Santa Monica it would be a nice treat for you to check out The Lobster; they serve up whole Maine lobsters as one of their American classic seafood dishes. You can expect to spend $31-$40 here so this is not an inexpensive place to eat. I warn you to come prepared, otherwise you may be a little bit surprised by the prices on the menu.

One thing that is so nice is that you can sit anywhere in the restaurant and have a 180 degree view of the Pacific Ocean! What a treat! I highly recommend that you sit on the patio so not only do you get the open view, but you also get to experience some really amazing breezes. There is no fancy dress code either the restaurant is overall quite casual. This is nice because you can walk around Santa Monica and sight see and finish the day off at a nice dinner without feeling like you have to change.

You don't have to make reservations to come here. I think they have something like 106 tables to sit at so they usually don't have a huge problem with being able to sit their guests. They most definitely allow walk-ins for the bar and you can sit there too. They have many different kinds of cocktails, but they are known for their bloody Mary's that come with a jumbo shrimp on the side.

If you are on a budget when you come here and you are concerned about paying that $31-$40 per person there is a really cool way to get around that rather high price range. You can order a few appetizers, which is nice because it allows you to try several different options. The great thing is that the appetizers are quite generous and filling. So, you can get full on these appetizers the way you would with a meal while saving you a good amount of money.

If you go on Friday nights you can enjoy some live rock music. This restaurant is not only about feeding their guests, but they are big on entertaining their guests as well. I have to warn you though that the music can be pretty loud so this may not be the best place to bring little ones.

Also, for entertainment purposes there is a pool table in the back of the restaurant that guests are free to enjoy anytime of the day.

One thing that you should know is that the service is not that friendly. They seem to have a snotty attitude, but it will not spoil your evening there.

Parking is always an issue whenever you are thinking about going to Santa Monica for anything! However, The Lobster has valet parking for $5.00. That is probably the best valet parking rate you will ever get to experience. Be sure to take advantage of that because you will most likely have to pay about that much or more at a parking garage across the street.
