Restaurant Review: Marc's of Kutztown, Pennsylvania

As anyone who has ever even driven through a college town is likely well aware, pizza places are a major business. It seems like one can drive down a main street at any college town and witness a great number of restaurants claiming to have "the best cheese steaks" or the "best pizza in town". However, even though many of these claims often turn out to be nothing but hype and wishing, one does occasionally find a restaurant that is really good at what it specializes in. While Marc's of Kutztown, may not have the most varied menu in the world, they do have some excellent cheese steaks, and their pizza is of top quality as well.

Granted, Marc's may not look like much from the outside, and the inside is nothing special, but the enjoyment here is in the food, not the atmosphere. However, even though there may not be that much room inside, there is enough space to eat in if you prefer, and the restaurant is always clean. Add this to the fact that the staff is always friendly, no matter how busy it gets, and you have yourself a pleasant place to eat, even if it may not be the most spacious location in the world.

However, the majority of customers tend to either pick up their food or have it delivered. And, somehow, Marc's manages to have some of the best delivery times in the area, and the food is always hot when it arrives, unlike many of the other locations in town that offer fast delivery.

But, no matter how one choose to get their food, it is almost a guarantee that they are going to be happy with it. As mentioned before, there really isn't a lot of variety of the menu, and one can pick from different types of cheese steaks and hamburgers or a variety of specialty pizzas. All of the different types of pizza are good, and are definitely worth ordering even if for a departure from the normal blandness that seems to come with most pizzerias. However, even the normal pizza is good, and one can taste the quality that Mar's puts into their food.

The best thing on the menu by far, though, are the cheese steaks. Whether one chooses a chicken cheese steak or a traditional, there are many options and they are always a great choice. The meat is top quality, the cheese is plentiful and delicious, and there are any number of ways that your steak can be customized. The buffalo chicken cheese steak is especially recommended, even though it can be a tad bit spicy. Marc's also has some great fries, and they are recommended as a complement to any meal. However, make sure to think twice about some of the appetizers, as they can be just a bit more boring than you think; as most of them are just frozen food heated up, or so it seems.

Marc's may not stand out like some of the other restaurants that are scattered around Kutztown, but for anyone who happens to chance by it's modest location on Main Street, there are some of the best cheese steaks to be found anywhere in the area. Marc's may not be the first restaurant on the minds of many, but it is definitely one of Kutztown's hidden secrets, and is sure to keep customers coming back for many years to come.
