Restaurant Review Moreno's in Carey, Ohio

Bubba
Every once in awhile a fella should kiss his lady on the cheek and whisper "Put your best dress on, we're goin' someplace special fer dinner." Recently that's just what I did and we found an extra special place to celebrate. Crisp white cloth napkins on a white table cloth. Music that allowed sweet nothin's to be whispered, superior service, outstanding food. That's the short version of our evenin' at Moreno's Casual Dining.

Moreno's is located near downtown Carey, Ohio at 109 W. Findlay St. Call "em fer reservations or other questions @ 419-396-7374. They are open fer lunch 11am till 4pm Tuesday through Friday, Open fer dinner 4pm till 9pm Tuesday through Saturday and do have a Sunday Brunch 9am till 1pm. One Special that caught my eye was on Tuesday and Wednesday they offer ten features fer under $11.

We entered a well light dining room enchanted at the player grand piano that was playing softly in the background. We were blessed with a table next to it. I wanted to tip the pianist but realized it was a mechanical device. The upbeat music had set the tone fer a very special evenin'.

Our server fer the evenin' was a delightful young lady named Dawn. It's obvious she has been trained in the art of true good service. My coffee cup was never empty and it was done so subtly that our conversation was never interrupted. She informed us of a delightful seafood en tree that was tonight's feature, suggested a wine to enhance the feature, and even answered questions in such a manner I felt as if we were family. Her assistant brought us some warm homemade bread and some of their rich coffee to taste as we perused the menu.

Bonnie looked stunnin' in her new dress. She loves a good Alfredo so chose the Fettuccine Alfredo with the house salad as her enhancement. The salad was a delightful combination of greens served with a poppyseed dressin'. The Fettuccine was served in a shallow bowl about twelve inches in diameter. It was loaded with grilled chicken, peas and carrots wrapped in the lovin' arms of a rich homemade Alfredo sauce.

I love spicy foods so chose the Putannesca. I also enjoy a good cup of soup so chose the Italian Lentil bean soup. It was delightful. The Putanesca was also served in the same shallow bowl. Shrimp, carrots, and mushrooms mixed with a spicy chipotle-tequila sauce tossed in some angel hair pasta. It was mildly spicy so I added some hot pepper flakes just fer my taste. Hold your fork fer a big surprise and the best is yet to come.

The surprise of a long time was that dessert is included in the meal. Not just one dessert but three choices. These were small enough that we didn't need to share but large enough to satisfy that cravin' fer somethin' sweet after a delightful meal. Bonnie chose the cheesecake with both chocolate and caramel sauce mmmmm good. I chose the chocolate cake with a fresh strawberry sauce over it mmmm good again.

Well folks we were a bit over budget... Dinner, dessert, sales tax and a generous gratuity was exactly $40. If you're in the mood fer somethin' extra special head to Carey Ohio and enjoy Moreno's, it's worth the trip. Perhaps we'll see ya there. If not just tell 'em Bubba & Bonnie sent ya... Mizpah ;-}}>
