Restaurant Review: Ohara's in Philadelphia

Nicole A.
Atmosphere

This restaurant is located on City Avenue in Philadelphia. The interior of Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill in is dimly lit. However, I visited this restaurant during the daytime. Therefore, the lighting may be different at night. Customers seated near the windows can control their own pull-up shade. This is a nice feature because it allows you to let the sun shine through if desired.

The Ohara's restaurant on City Avenue has a quieter atmosphere than some other places in Philadelphia. While this is a great aspect, the low noise level may be due to the rather empty building. There have not been many customers at Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill during lunchtime. It is one factor that would make anyone think twice about eating here. Aside from the limited amount of guests, Ohara's on City Avenue is a clean location.

Service

At the point of arrival, guests are seated without hassle. The staff is friendly, but not very knowledgeable about the food served at this restaurant. When I visited Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill on City Line Avenue, the waiter vanished for minutes on end. If the restaurant was packed with customers and very busy, it would be understandable if staff members were slower than usual. This was not the case at Ohara's on City Avenue in Philadelphia.

Price

The prices are relatively standard for average chain restaurants. Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill serves a decent variety of food. This restaurant location also serves some beer and cocktail selections. Both the food and beverages are sized well. You can have lunch at Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill for under $30.

Food

While Ohara's on City Avenue looks like a nice place to eat, there is little to be desired. The chicken marsala is not great, but adequate. In fact, this sauce is too thick and do not fit well with the humongous noodles that is comes with. The side dishes at Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill are of the same quality. The chicken is actually very good by itself. If you are visiting this restaurant, that would be the only item I would recommend.

Verdict

Salad and chicken is the only food worth ordering at Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill on City Avenue. This restaurant looks and feels like a barren region, wandering into oblivion. It is best to eat here once you have exhausted all other options. If you are very hungry, Ohara's Seafood Bar & Grill is worth a try. However, I would not be surprised if this particular location does not get any kind of annual "Best in Philly" award.
