I had heard about Pantera's from a friend and thought I would go eat dinner there this night. Pantera's is located off of Hwy 159 in a small strip mall. It's certainly nothing special to look at from the outside. When you walk inside you will need to walk through the dining area to the back of the restaurant in order to place your order.
Pantera's has a large menu on the wall in which to order from, so I took a few minutes to look it over. I ended up ordering a hamburger, pepperoni and onion pizza along with a soft drink. When you have decided on your order you will take a tray and serve your own soft drink and place your order with the cashier. You pay for the bill right then and there. My total was less than $10, so the price is more than reasonable.
After ordering you are given a number and they will call it when your pizza is ready. You seat yourself in either a booth or table. Nothing formal about Pantera's Pizza, that's for sure.
The atmosphere at Pantera's is certainly kid friendly. There is a large jukebox along with several coin operated video games to play while you are waiting. I will say that the restaurant was clean and picked up. I didn't see trash on the floor or tables full of left over plates and pizza. Of course, on this night the restaurant was only one quarter filled, so I don't know what the weekends would be like.
There is also a salad bar at Pantera's right in the middle of the restaurant, but I didn't opt for it on this visit. Looking it over I will say that there were plenty of different sides to go along with the standard items found at any salad bar.
My order took approximately 15 minutes to be called, so I didn't have a long wait. When I got back to my table and took a piece I must say it was good. The crust is thin and crispy like I enjoy and there was plenty of melted cheese on top. All in all it was very good.
Pros
Fast service
Good pizza
Cons
Can be noisy with the jukebox
If you are looking for a place to take the kids for pizza and sodas, or your ball team after a game, I would recommend giving Pantera's Pizza in Edwardsville, IL a try. I think you will like it.
