Restaurant Review: Piu Bello Desert Cafe in Forest Hills, NY

Hard Worker
Piu Bello restaurant in Forest Hills, NY is a unique desert restaurant that is every bit fancy as it is expensive. Many people have heard of the famous desert restaurant called Serendipity in New York City. However, many people have never heard of Piu Bello despite its packed crowds on weekends and its salivating desert selection.

The deserts offered at Piu Bello are very fancy and also very expensive. The desert display is something that you would likely see on a cooking channel. While many restaurants may have a fancy desert display, their deserts usually lack substance. Not so for Piu Bello which has great style and great substance?

Ambiance: I used to detest going to Piu Bello despite its great deserts because it allowed smoking in its restaurant and there was no non-smoking customer section. The smoke used to affect non-smokers and prevented non-smokers from going to the restaurant. Now thanks to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, smoking is no longer allowed in restaurants and Piu Bello is once again one of my favorite desert places to go.

Every desert is high in calories and there is a limited selection of fat free or low calorie deserts so if you are on a diet or trying to keep your wait down, you might want to skip desert at Piu Bello. Deserts are dipped in rich creamy chocolate sauces and topped with whipped cream. Milk shakes are thick and most deserts are very sweet and rich in flavor.
The desert restaurant has a variety of cakes and ice cream flavors that customers can chose.

Prices as mentioned earlier are very expensive. Desert alone is about $10. Seating is by a waitress who will take your order and give you a menu. So in addition to your $10 fee, you will have to leave a few dollars on the table for the tip. The selection of cake includes cheesecake, moose cake, chocolate layered cake, fruit cake, and fruit pies. You can also order desert drinks like cappuccinos, espressos, ice cream drinks, wine, or sweetened alcoholic desert drinks. For ice cream, they have just about any flavor imaginable that you can top with whip cream, sprinkles, hot fudge, caramel and a cherry.

Parking, if you haven't read my other articles on New York City restaurants, is nearly impossible and you won't find any parking spots near the restaurant. You'll need to look about 10 blocks away for the closest spot. There is a parking garage pretty close to the restaurant and you might find parking near a police station not far away from the restaurant.
