I'll start with the basics here. The food is really good but the service is just so-so. This past weekend we visited the restaurant twice and had two different servers. Normally we do not visit Pizza Hut so much in such a short amount of time but my father-in-law was visiting and was really impressed by Pizza Hut's hot wings. He did not know that Pizza Hut served items other than pizza and salad and was really impressed by their larger menu.

Here's what happened on Friday night. We must have been hungry because there were only four of us and we ordered everything but the kitchen sink. Our group consisted of my father-in-law, my husband, our six-year-old daughter, and I. We were armed with three pages of coupons and thought surely we could use at least one. Well that didn't happen. Our daughter really wanted to try the stuffed crust pizza since we had never ordered one so we had a coupon for a large one topping pizza for $10.99. The coupon stated that you could get the stuffed crust for one dollar more. We figured we would use the coupon we had for that. I really wanted the chicken wings and I ordered the 20 piece mild wings for $11.99. My husband loves the Supremo sandwich here and he and my father-in-law each ordered one of those. Our daughter also wanted an order of cinnamon sticks. The server took our coupon and then came back and said we didn't really need to use the one we presented because they were running a special and it was for the same price. He told us that we could save the coupon and use it at a later time.

We waited a long time before any of the food started to arrive. The chicken wings came first. We all plowed into those because we were so hungry. Even though they were mild they did have a little bit of kick to them. My father-in-law commented on how good they were and said he liked them better than the ones at Buffalo Wild Wings. The cinnamon sticks came out next, followed still a few minutes later by the sandwiches, and then the pizza. We ended up taking most of the pizza home. I think only three pieces were taken from the pizza while we were there. My husband and I ended up splitting his sandwich. It was as good as always. While we were waiting on the check, I noticed I had a coupon from a local mailer for buy one Bistro item get the second one for half price. Well after talking to the server he said the sandwiches would qualify for that promotion but would have to check with the manager since their restaurant was not listed on the coupon. (It was a local mailer and they are our only Pizza Hut.) The server ended up bringing the coupon back and said the manager would not accept the coupon since their location was not named specifically on the coupon. I've had trouble time and time again with this restaurant not accepting coupons. Delivery has also been a problem when it comes to coupons. We paid our bill, which come to $50 with taxes and tip.

Fast forward to Sunday evening and we're trying to decide what's for dinner. We started out thinking we were going to get Chinese food when my father-in-law started reminiscing about how good the wings were. So here we go, back down the road to Pizza Hut. This time we get a different server and we stay away from pizza all together. Our daughter ordered a single order of breadsticks this time. My husband stuck with his Supremo sandwich. My father-in-law and I once again order the twenty piece hot wings and we were able to add a salad for $2.49 each. As you can see, this time dinner will be much cheaper. After delivering our drinks our waitress asked if we would like our salad now or wait to everything is ready. We opted for now, and I'm glad we did or we wouldn't have been eating for at least another twenty minutes. Our waitress then comes back and asks if we would like the breadsticks now or later. Again my answer is "Now please." Hot wings were up next and I shared my half an order with my husband and daughter. My husband was getting hungry, as more time had passed and still no sandwich. After about ten more minutes his sandwich finally arrived. I really don't know what takes so long when it comes to preparing the sandwiches. We watched several people get their orders before us and they ordered after we did. This time our total was about $30.

I really have no complaints about the servers because the things we had problems with were issues beyond their control. Our biggest complaint was the time in which we were served our food. The food however is always hot and fresh. I also found out that not all locations offer the sandwiches. One side note - unfortunately they do not offer buffet at this location.

This Pizza Hut is located at 2201 Dahlgren Road in Dahlgren, Virginia. You can find out about their specials and operating hours by calling 1-540-663-2575.

We rarely, if ever, get a nice server there. Their salad bar is practically non-existent there too. I have never tried to use a coupon there though. One night, my MIL and FIL and we all went there and our food was in the kitchen, done, and the help was in there dancing around. I am not joking here. They were dancing to some hip hop or something while our food sat there and undelivered to our table. And I believe that was the time they were out of milk and wouldn't go to Food Lion (just a hop away) and buy a gallon, no they were just out til Tuesday (this was a Sat night) so hubby went over and bought a small container of milk for our young children since we didn't want them to have pop. The pizza was good, the service sub par and this has been the way that it has been for 3 years, at least.
