I admit I was hesitant to check out Raglan Road, which boasts that it was born in Ireland, plucked up and placed in the United States. After all, I've been to Dublin, and though I found it to be one of the most magnificent places on earth, the food was not so pleasing. But Raglan Road was a pleasant surprise. It has everything an Irish pub and restaurant should - the fun and upbeat atmosphere, the fast and friendly service, even the music - and excellent food to boot!
In fact, Raglan Road offers some of the most appetizing dishes in Downtown Disney. Their steaks and burgers are wonderful and cooked to order, especially if you are lucky enough to visit on a night when they are offering their filet mignon special. Thirty-something dollars but worth every penny. Their chicken dishes are outstanding as well. And the fries are large and tasty. Whatever you are in the mood for, you are likely to enjoy it, as Raglan Road's dishes are created masterfully by renowned chef Kevin Dundon.
Of course, this being an authentic Irish pub, you will want to wash your meal down with beer, wine or spirits. And you could not find a better atmosphere in which to imbibe. Seat yourself at one of the large bars or join your mates at a table and order until you're content. The staff is friendly and quick on the draw, and the cocktails are strong and delicious. Irish drinking songs play at some volume, and in the immaculate restrooms you can listen to some hilarious Irish comedy.
Desserts at Raglan Road are worth leaving some of your entree behind, so save room. And you will not want to miss enjoying one of their genuine Irish coffees.
It is not often you find a restaurant that does everything right, but Raglan Road happens to be one of those that does. Most dishes are inexpensive, and even with a couple drinks, you can enjoy a long lunch at a price of $20 to $25 per person. If you live in the area, take advantage of Disney's Dining Experience, a card which will get you 20% off both food and drinks at Raglan Road and a host of other fabulous restaurants in Walt Disney World resort area.
