Restaurant Review: Raglan Road, Orlando, Florida

Lunch Review of the Irish Pub and Restaurant Located at Downtown Disney

We were really excited to try the food at Raglan Road. We were on the Disney Deluxe Dining plan and this restaurant does participate on the plan. The deluxe dining plan entitled us to a non-alcoholic drink, an appetizer, an entrée, and a dessert. We checked in at 10:45 AM but the restaurant did not open until 11:00 AM. The menu was posted inside and outside of the restaurant, which allowed us time to look over the menu while we waited. We were seated promptly at 11:00 AM. The restaurant was very empty and only four other tables were occupied when we left at noon.

Drinks - We didn't order anything special here. Husband ordered water. I ordered a Coke, and our daughter ordered a Shirley Temple.

Appetizers - My husband started with the baby back Guinness ribs. He knew our daughter loves ribs and had planned on sharing them with her. He thought the ribs were good but did not finish them as he was saving room for his entree. She was disappointed when they arrived because they lacked a heavy barbecue sauce. I ordered the scallop forest appetizer. They were very good. Six came with the order and I had one still left by the time we were finished with our meal. (The colder they got, the less I enjoyed them.) These particular appetizers were $13 each.

Entrees - My husband and I both ordered the Lobster Club sandwich for our entrees. He chose green beans as his side dish while I chose the mashed potatoes. I was less than impressed with the potatoes. I'm used to more creamy mashed potatoes and these were on the heavy side and lacked flavor. The lobster sandwich did contain a fair amount of lobster meat but it was broken up into small pieces. The lobster was paired well with avocado, proscuitto, and watercress. The sandwich was very good. Our daughter ordered the "Dalkey Duo" which was batter dipped cocktail sausages. She did not like the taste of the sausages but at the same time she was thinking that they would taste like corn dog nuggets. She ordered the mashed potatoes as her side and managed to eat more of them than I did.

We did not order dessert even though the menu looked very tempting. (It would have been included on the dining plan.) Our total bill after tax came to $69.76. The cost of the meal was covered by our dining plan, which we had pre-purchased. The only thing we had to cover here was our server's tip. He was very attentive so we went with the usual Disney tipping guideline of 18-20%.

Our overall opinion was it was "okay". Raglan Road didn't seem like a place we would come back to for lunch. The food was good but not spectacular. We may have to give dinner a try though as the menu items are different and they do offer nightly entertainment.

Reservations can be made by calling 407-938-0300 or 407-WDW-DINE. They can also be placed online by visiting Raglan Road's website. http://www.raglanroadirishpub.com/
