Restaurant Review: Red Lobster in Lynchburg, VA

Angelie MacKenzie
Red Lobster is the only seafood restaurant that I really like. Every time I go there, I order the New England Sampler appetizer. It has seafood stuffed mushrooms, fried clam strips, and bacon wrapped scallops. I've tried to order other appetizers, but I already found the perfect one. Once I was there with a friend who ordered the Ultimate Fondue. It was really good, but I'll never give up the New England Sampler even if I have to eat it as my entree.

For an entree, I usually order the Ultimate Feast. It has crab legs, shrimp scampi, a small lobster tail, and butterfly shrimp. Generally, I always order the Caesar salad and a baked potato as a side. Be warned that Red Lobster likes to put rock salt on the outside of the potato. Every time I request that they don't do this, they start at me funny. I don't like the taste of a lot of salt, it's my choice.

I've had many other entrees at Red Lobster and almost all of their food is excellent. Except for the lobster and crab pasta. I think that's what it is called. Not only did it taste bad, but it made me sick. Seriously, never order this. But don't confuse that dish with the shrimp pasta, as the shrimp pasta is so good. I had that one time when they had an all you can eat shrimp special going on.

Red Lobster has the best non-alcoholic drinks. They are like fruit smoothies. I've had most of the different flavors and they are all really good. But, I like their raspberry one the best. The only downside is, you're probably going to need to order a soft drink too since you're going to be very thirsty from all the buttery seafood that you'll be eating.

Your meal at Red Lobster includes their famous unlimited cheese biscuits. They are unique from the bread served at any other restaurant. I love them so much that I have a knockoff recipe for them that I make at home on occasion.

Red Lobster's dessert menu baffles me. How can the rest of their menu be so good, and yet, they have the worst desserts of any restaurant. That chocolate wave cake of theirs tastes dry and old. It's horrible. One time I was there with a friend and her kid. The kid ordered it and refused to eat it. Both of us tried the cake, and we all agreed that the cake simply wasn't good. And their banana fosters cheesecake isn't any better than something like Jello no-bake. I've also tried the key lime pie, which is equally as horrible. Red Lobster should be embarrassed by their dessert menu.

I highly recommend the Red Lobster in Lynchburg, VA. Both the food and the service are outstanding.

I recently ate at a red lobster in springfiled,mo with my mother and sister. My sister ordered the chocolate wave dessert. You should know that first of all, we are southern women that know how to cook good southern soul food, which includes good chocolate cake. We all thought that it was the best cake we had ever ate. it was very moist, very fresh, and most of all very chocolately. In fact that is the recipe I am looking for right now and that is how I came upon your review.I think the dessert you were served was mearly a reflection on the restaurant you went to and I suggest you visit another one in a different area.
