About the Restaurant:
Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse is a meat lover's paradise. They offer around 15 cuts of meat with unlimited portions. The meats are brought out on skewers and hand carved by Brazilian gauchos (cowboys). My personal favorites were the rump steak, leg of lamb, and the lamb chops. They also offer filet mignon, chicken legs, pork loin, and other various cuts of the meats listed. Grilled pineapple is also brought around on skewers and the taste is unbelievable. On the table you will find at each person's place setting a two-sided card. One side of the card is green and the other side of the card is red. As the gauchos walk by they look to see what color your card is on. If your card is on green, they will keep coming to your table with more meat. If your card is on red, they will stop. Also, we found that if you told them you were waiting for a certain cut of meat the gauchos would go out of their way to get that cut of meat over to your table ASAP. It helps to slow down the process if you flip your card to red if your plate is full already. This let's you have time to finish what's on your plate without being interrupted every few minutes. (The service here is excellent and can be very fast paced.) Along with the meats, a server brings to your table cheese bread, mashed potatoes, polenta, and fried bananas. I have to admit that we didn't load up on these sides too much because the meats and salad bar were so good.
Not a meat lover, no worries. Rioz also offers an amazing salad bar. In my opinion, it's the best gourmet salad bar I've ever seen but also very pricey. You'll find your normal salad bar offerings plus more. You'll find things like gourmet meats (think prosciutto), cheeses, jumbo olives, shitake mushrooms, shrimp, giant roasted asparagus spears, hearts of palm, boiled quail eggs, sushi, and sashimi (my personal favorite). They offer many more items but these were the ones that stuck out to me.
Dessert is also available but at an additional cost. (Somewhere between $5-8 with options like crème brulee, key lime pie, flan, etc.)
Rioz opens at 4 PM daily and offers unlimited portions. The all you can eat meal is at a fixed price of $34.95 a person. If you wish to just have the salad bar it is $19.95 a person. Children up to age six are FREE. Children 7-12 years old are $17.95. If your child just wants the salad bar the cost is only $9.95. (I was told that the price also includes chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and French fries.) We did not order this for our daughter because she liked all of the other offerings. You can also find coupons for a free dessert at Rioz in some of the local coupon booklets. Be sure and clip one for each person. (You may have to get more than one book.) We used three dessert coupons and the desserts alone totaled up to a little more than $17.
Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse is located at 2920 Hollywood Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC. (Near Broadway at the Beach and Planet Hollywood.) You can make reservations by calling (843) 839-0777. You can also visit their website at www.rioz.com.
After trying other Brazilian steakhouses we can honestly say that Rioz is our new favorite and a must the next time we're in Myrtle Beach.
