Restaurant Review: San Jose's House of Genjii

A Great Place to Eat!

Teppanyaki dining has become highly fashionable, and both the food and the "show" are key reasons why! The most famous Teppanyaki restaurant across the United States is Benihana , however, these restaurants are often crowded and expensive.

If you are in the San Jose area, the House of Genjii is a great alternative. A spacious dining area means that you can sit with your guests and actually have and hear conversations without straining. The ambiance rivals any Benihana restaurant, and the show is spectacular.

I enjoyed this restaurant Friday night, and found the Filet Mignon I ordered incredibly tender and cooked perfectly to order. The show presented was quite entertaining, with the highlight being the onion volcano presented by our chef. His knife flew like lightening as our meal was prepared perfectly, and rather quickly as well.

Appetizer shrimp are served with each meal, and are as large as many restaurant's main dish shrimp. All dinners are served with soup, salad with a freshly made special dressing, steamed rice, appetizer shrimp, and an assortment of vegetables as large as your main dish.

Prices are reasonable, my Filet Mignon only cost $20.50 for the entire meal. If you are really hungry, you can order a steak and lobster combo for $34.50 or a seafood combo for $36.50. There is a Vegetarian Platter available for $15.95, and children's meals are also offered.

You can get a free New York Steak meal on your birthday if you bring four other guests.

One thing is certain - you will not leave this restaurant hungry!
