Restaurant Review Scrambler Marie's

Toledo, Ohio

Bubba
Many years ago I was a member of the Northwest Ohio Restaurant Association. One of the many things I learned from this organization was that in the metropolitan area there are more restaurants per capita than anywhere in the continental United States. There also was a mind set if you had a concept fer a new restaurant try it in Toledo. If it is successful here it will succeed anywhere.

I have been sein' a prostetist in Perrysburg fer several months. There are times when we are forced to eat in Toledo area because of time constraints and other issues. It would be easy to slip into a burger place and fill our need fer nourishment. We however try to find places that are a bit unique and will satisfy our needs.

In this search we discovered a little place called "Scrambler Marie's". There are several locations in the Toledo area and a few in Columbus. We were eatin' at the little place on Rt 25 between the I-475 exit and South Boundary street. The hours are daily from 630am till 330pm. They will book the space fer a private party after 330pm.

Yes there is a Marie. Her first name isn't Scrambler. Hahaha ! Deby Marie is the wife of the founder and still is active within the organization. There are several dishes on the menu named after folks that are part of the family. Everythin' from the Uncle Moose's Manhandler skillet to Allison's sweet ending.

I was overjoyed to see a pot of coffee arrive at the table. Linda was our server and she returned at least twice just to make sure we had enough coffee. While readin' this extensive menu we struck up a conversation with a couple of retired teachers seated next to us. He was muchin on a tall stack of Strawberry pancakes. (All the pancake and french toast full orders are all you care to eat) The wonderful tiny ole gal that was with him had ordered a huge Cinnamon Roll smothered in a rich cream cheese frostin'. Defiantly enough fer lunch with the great coffee.

Bonnie finally decided on the Garlic Portabella Ciabatta Sandwich. It's a delightful combination of grilled portabella mushrooms, garlic, and herbs on a ciabatta roll garnished with fresh bell pepper, celery, zucchini, onions, tomato, topped with a combination of melted cheese and a side of gorgeous Caesar Pasta salad. I hadda try the Uncle Moose's Manhandler skillet. Potato chunks, bacon, ham, sausage, covered in a combination of melted cheeses and two eggs served with some thick cut rye toast. I was tempted to devour it all but chose to be wise and brought half home fer supper. Bonnie wanted one of those Cinnamon Rolls but no way had room fer it now. We decided two-to-go was the answer to the dilemma. She now had lunch at work fer two nights in a row.

Linda was back again wonderin' if everything was Ok and did we need more coffee? My only complaint was not enough room to eat more and still maintain my dietary restrictions. We did it again. Lots of food, beverages, dessert, fer two includin' sales tax and a generous gratuity all under $35. When y'all stop to try the Scrambler Marie's look around ya may see us there too. Mizpah ;-}}>
