Restaurant Review: Star of India in Salt lake City, Utah

Evening has hit and you're craving a little Indian food. It happens to us all. Well, if you find yourself in that situation in Salt Lake City, the Star of India is a great place to try. Located at 55 East 400 South, in downtown Salt Lake City, the Star of India is high style Indian cuisine.

During the day, between 11:30 and 2:30, they have a lunch buffet serving a great deal of Indian favorites for $8.95. This buffet usually has about 8-10 entrees, along with naan, salads, and dessert. This is great if you're in a hurry because of a lunch break, or even if you'd like to take colleagues or clients out in an affordable way.

The dinner menu is excellent. The Star of India serves a wonderful selection of Tandoori dishes as well as curry and other favorites. The chicken tikka is especially tasty. They also have a range of flavored naan and a great traditional Indian Mulligatawny soup.

The restaurant itself is very colorful with a wide variety of Indian furnishing as well as full wall murals depicting India and various religious and cultural scenes. They also have a large screen showing movies and music videos. This would be great for a party or meeting.

The downside of the Star of India is that it isn't fast. Many have gone there and waited for 45 minutes for their dishes. This may be due to a smaller staff or to the extensive preparation that goes into the food. Either way, unless you are coming for the lunch buffet, plan to spend a bit of time out of your evening.
