We entered the bright and cheery dinning room anticipating an evening of good food and a few giggles. Charlotte was our server for this evening. The menu was printed in a bold type so it was easy to read and understand. Charlotte told us about a Perch dinner special that sounded nice and brought us coffee and Diet Cokes.
Jane ordered the Country Fried Steak and Gene decided on the Perch. Both looked very appealing, golden brown and an aroma of good food.. The Queen Goddess also ordered the Perch. The Cole Slaw was very bland and a small portion but ice cold, the Perch was lightly breaded and the mountain of potatoes was almost overpowering. No bread or rolls were served or offered. I ordered the Liver with onions with some ice cold cottage cheese and a very small salad. The liver was fork tender and the onions just a bit on the crunchy side (Just like I love 'em) Charlotte brought us several refills on our beverages... Hold you fork the best is yet to come.
Jane ordered Cherry Pie, Gene ordered Peach Pie, and the Queen Goddess ordered a blueberry pie to share. The pies were presented beautifully. The crust was obviously homemade and I believe made with a bit of love. The pies themselves need more sugar. The peach was flat and the other two were very tart.
This was a bit premature as they have just opened. I feel they have a good chance of rectifying these little details. I did ask four times for a menu to take along and never got it. Dinner for the Queen Goddess and myself including sales tax, dessert and a generous gratuity for Charlotte was under $30.

Post a Commentto eat in cold restaurants. I guess my comment must have been TOO LONG for the review below. Thanks! Patti
My mom and I and our 2 friends drive to Fremont to eat at this place. This is now 2009 and I've read the reviews. Well, the food is absolutely delicious and BIG portions. I always have something to take home. I have yet to try to dessert as I never have room. I love the home fries and their ribeye steak has a great flavor. I personally thought the soups were salty and the service is SLOW. So if you are in a hurry, do not go there. The food is good home cooking and their cabbage rolls are delicious when they are on special!!! I call a lot for the specials and I probably drive them nuts but I want to make sure I want something before I get there! I can always rely on the steak or the broasted chicken but I love the cabbage rolls. They do serve bread with the meals now. EVERYONE should try to eat there at least once to try it. GREAT MEALS and GREAT PRICES. The service could be a little faster for my liking and I feel the temperature in there is COLD. My mother does not like
So would you go back?
Thanks for your honesty in this review!
Hopefully they will get the kinks worked out. Sounds like they have a good menu.
I like tart pies. But then, I don't have much of a sweet tooth either........ Good honest review here.
