The best word to describe Texas-Arizona in downtown Hoboken is mediocre. The food is mediocre. The service is mediocre. The atmosphere is mediocre. The only thing that is really terrific about Texas-Arizona is its location: right across from the Hoboken PATH station. Here is a review of Texas-Arizona in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Texas-Arizona is fine if you just want to grab a quick burger. And it is entirely enjoyable to sit outside and drink a beer (they have a fantastic selection) and watch the people exit Hoboken Terminal on their way home from work. There is no better spot in Hoboken to people-watch. And you might even be doing it with a celebrity. Last time I took a table outside at Texas-Arizona, I was sitting a few feet away from the New York Football Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey.

Celebrities aside, the food is nothing special and the interior of the restaurant isn't worth the visit. The bar scene is okay, thanks to its location, but there are many more happening places in Hoboken. In fact, right next door is Oddfellows Rest, which boasts some really outstanding cajun cuisine at very reasonable prices.

Stay away from the steak. It's awful. Some of their meals have a southwestern flair, but they are far from authentic. Stick to the basics: good old-fashioned American cuisine that is difficult to screw up.

My friend John says of Texas-Arizona: "It's convenient. It's the first place you see when you step off the PATH. And I like to sit outside with a few drinks and watch the girls go by. But the food is nothing to write home about. If you're sitting outside and there's not too many other guests out there, the service can be terrible. It can take forever to get a drink. And I do not like that one bit."

My friend Brian says of Texas-Arizona: "It's okay. You have to change up every once and a while, and Texas-Arizona is right there near the PATH. It's a decent place to grab a quick lunch, but I wouldn't bring a date or someone you hope to impress. The live music usually sucks, too."

My friend Jen says of Texas-Arizona: "My husband likes it because of all the different beers they have, but I can't stand the food. And the service is terrible. The prices aren't outrageous, so I guess it's okay once in a blue moon. But I wouldn't make a habit of eating there."

My friend Vin says of Texas-Arizona: "I refuse to eat there if you have to sit inside. There are just too many better places to eat in Hoboken. But if you get a table outside, I don't mind so much. You have front row seats to a great show."
