Non-chain, family owned or dive restaurants are becoming extinct in the US. So when you find one, it should be cherished. While on vacation, we tend to try and find those long lost gems wherever we are staying. A recent vacation to Daytona Beach brought us to Webbers Steak House.

The name Webber might trigger a thought of a Webber grill or their chain of restaurants. This is not the case. Webber's Steak House in located amongst a strip mall, although it is a freestanding building with a gravel drive. The building is not fancy, nor is the décor inside. In fact, Webber's looks more like a bar than a restaurant, and definitely could qualify as a dive. Don't let that fact deter you. The food is great.

Discount coupons and advertising wasn't found for Webber's, another traveler recommended it. Webber's does offer early bird prices and daily specials, which are worth checking out. We decided to try them for the early bird prices primarily because we were traveling with small children, and it made sense to take them early when the restaurant would be less busy. Our early arrival was well worth the effort. I understand a wait at peak dinning hours is not uncommon, and usually range from 30 - 45 minutes. Upon arrival, we were one of two tables dining. That fact quickly changed. The customers seemed to range from the regulars, to the seasonal regulars who came in and greeted everyone and mentioned how they were missed. Our waitress wasn't surprised that we were newbies from out of town; she graciously welcomed us and engaged our children. The service was great, friendly and more than we expected. The service alone would be something that would bring us back.

While the salad bar is minimal, it is good. But really, you don't want to fill up on it since the main course is what you are there for and it is worth ever penny. Webber's is one of the few restaurants left that hand cut their meat. They offer steaks, chicken and seafood. The prime rib is phenomenal. Webber's offers different menus for lunch and dinner. An online presence or online menu cannot be found for Webbers. However, the Urbanspoon website ranks Webber's at 85% with 28 people voting. Webbers Steak House is located at 2017 S. Ridgewood Avenue in South Daytona, Florida. You can reach them by phone at (386) 761-5982.
