Restaurant Review: Yesterdays Restaurant in Chloride Arizona

Bring Mom for a Mother's Day Feast

Nestled at the base of the Cerbat Mountains is the quaint little town of Chloride Arizona. It is about 75 miles southeast of Las Vegas Nevada. Traveling south on Route 93, it is about 20 miles past the Hoover Dam. From the Kingman Arizona area, travel about 17 miles northwest on Route 93. Turn off Route 93 at the sign for Chloride and travel about three and a half miles into town. Once in this little town, look for Yesterdays Restaurant on 2nd Street. The town is pretty small so you'll find it just by driving up and down the streets.

Anyone visiting the area, or locals from the surrounding areas for that matter, should take the time to visit Yesterdays Restaurant. I have had the pleasure of dining at this fabulous little spot on two occasions and plan on returning there next month. The outside is modest and unassuming and the interior is simple and a little rustic. There is a small bandstand area in the corner of the restaurant as they have live entertainment performing there on occasion. Yesterdays Restaurant is neat and clean as are the rest rooms.

We found Yesterdays Restaurant as we were passing through the area and heading up the mountain road to get a look at the murals that were painted on the boulders in the mountains above Chloride by artist Roy Purcell in the 1960's. While in Chloride, you may want to venture up the rough road up into the mountains to get a look at the famous Purcell Murals. Roy Purcell and a team of artists repainted the murals in the summer of 2006 so the colors have been revitalized after almost forty years of weathering.

Yesterdays Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Both times that my family and I have visited Yesterdays, it was for lunch. The menu offered burgers and many sandwich choices. Sweet potato fries, as well as French fries, are among their menu choices. They also have a huge selection of bottled beer available. We opted for soft drinks that were served to us in canning jar type mugs. Some in our group ordered regular hamburgers and two of us ordered the black bean burgers. We also had regular fries as well as sweet potato fries and both were good. All of our burgers arrived at our table cooked to order and were delicious. The staff was very efficient and very friendly. Our waiter filled us in on local events and upcoming plans for activities in the town of Chloride.

Yesterdays is planning a Mother's Day Feast, complete with music, on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2007 from 11 am until closing. It would be worth the trip to take in the festivities with your Mom on her special day. For further information, contact Yesterdays Restaurant at 928-565-2559.

A group of us brought in the New Year at this wonderful Oasis. Yes it's rustic, but that's why we went there! Excellent food - fun entertainment - Wonderful service and they even got my beer in as a special order! We have already made plans to go back in the Spring. Well worth a visit.

Yesterdays restauraunt in Chloride Az was a great disppointnment to our highly-anticpated visit this past weekend. Pumped by favorable reviews and our love for out-of-the-way places, we were sadly, disgusted with the food. I ordered the LObster and crab pasta for $15.99.

When the spinach pasta finally came after a sizable wait, I was face to face with a mountain of green noodles covered in what can be construed as cream sauce. The unmistakeable whiff of condensed milk floated up. Undeterred yet, I recieved another blow when I tasted imitation crab among odorless shredded cheese that was sprinkled over top. I picked through hoping for signs of lobster morsels...none.

It was an uttershame that when I informed the waitperson after paying the bill and tipping that the food was "awful", all I got in response was a gratuitous "I am Sorry."

I won't go back, hope you will be spared my frustration: eat elsewhere, but be served yesterday's food.

We just got back from a week in Laughlin, NV and had the opportunity of visiting Chloride, AZ. The town is really quaint and it's literally a step back in time. We wandered around and eventually had lunch at Yesterdays (it used to be a stagecoach station and repair place and you can see this to this very day) and I was most impressed.

We had a hamburger for lunch (dressed) and it had to be one of the best hamburgers I've had in many a long year...and what's more, the hamburger was hand made and not one of these processed ones! The bun was slightly toasted and on the side of the plate, there were tomatoes, lettuce and onion to add to your hamburger along with dressing and ketchup, if one wanted it. It was mighty delicious indeed.

Must thank the owners of the place as they made us feel so very welcome there and invited us back anytime. Spending time with these people, sure made for a lovely time whilst we were away on vacation, and I recommend this restaurant any time. Good

This is the best and most fun restaurant you will find in any small town in the southwest. John and Bonnie and the team there really know how to put out great food and they provide excellent entertainment. It's a must visit anytime you're heading between Las Vegas and Kingman.
