Restaurant Review Yesteryears Restaurant

Sandusky, Ohio

The Queen Goddess and I are big overgrown kids when it comes to having fun. One such delightful day recently will give you an indication of our giggles. First we had a joy filled visit to the Merry-Go- Round Museum. I even stole a kiss on the ride around the circle while the "um pa pa" music serenaded us. We were blessed with a second ride since it was a slow rainy Saturday afternoon. (Hehehehe I stole a kiss the second time too.)

Just around the corner from the Museum is the Yesteryears Restaurant. It is located at 129 W. Market Street in beautiful downtown Sandusky, Ohio. Call 'em at 419-624-1400. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11am till 8pm and beginning Easter Sunday they will be open from 12noon till 7pm. Julie tells us if we're coming back for Easter Sunday best make reservations.

We strolled into this attractive dining room feeling as if we belonged here. I would call it upscale bistro décor. There is a special elegance about cloth napkins that always makes me feel important. The menu was a book but easy to read and understand. Julie our server was very helpful with answers to all our questions.

The Queen Goddess was watching her diet and wanted some dessert so ordered a Spinach Salad with a special House Dressing and a cup of a delectable cream of cauliflower soup. I was overcome by my kiddie feeling so ordered a Deluxe 8oz Hamburger with Steak Fries and a bit of Cole Slaw. Now I like my my beef rare and for the first time in recent memory my burger came as rare as I like it. It's so satisfying to be able to order your meat to your exact degree of done and get it that way. Hold your fork the best is yet to come!

The elegant little place has a dessert selection that will suprise you. We ordered a chocolate cake that was a bit small but robust in flavor. The quality was there it was just a bit small. The suprise of the evening was when the bill arrived. Instead of the usual mints we received chocolate chip cookies that were outstanding.

Well folks we did it again. Dinner for two, including beverages, dessert, sales tax and a generous gratuity for Julie all for under $35. If you should want an elegant meal served with a bit of class you must try Yesteryears Restaurant. If we're not there yet tell 'em Bubba and Bonnie sent ya. Mizpah ;-}}>
