As the name suggests, one of the first things that one notices about the diner is that it is located next to a small airport. Well, more of a take off and landing strip, but planes and gliders are launched and land at the location. The airport is fully functional, and diners have the option of getting a window seat to look at the planes coming and going. Also, after (or before) eating, one can simply walk next door and take a guided or solo flight on a plane or glider, something that is a lot of fun and highly recommended. However, few things are really as enjoyable as getting to watch planes take off and land while eating your breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
However, while the view is definitely enjoyable, that is not the only thing that makes the Airport diner such a popular location. The inside is decorated very nicely, and is one of the few diners that manages to pull off a comforting, yet still modern look. From the tablecloths to the chairs, everything seems intricately designed and placed to give the customer the best dining experience possible. Add this to the fact that the waitresses and waiters are all incredibly pleasant, and you have a great and unique atmosphere where one can go to eat dinner.
Of course, even though the view, service, and overall atmosphere of the Airport Diner is great, by far the best thing about eating there is the food. Although one might expect the restaurant to have the same old boring choices of hamburgers, French fries and soups, that is far from the case. The Airport diner serves a great variety of food, from specialty chicken wraps to full dinners, including steaks, chicken choices, and even authentic Greek specialties. Even better than the sheer amount of choices is how good all of those choices really are. No matter what one orders or feels like eating, it seems almost impossible to get a bad meal at the Airport Diner. Of course, those who opt for it still have the option of ordering hamburgers and the like, although one is encouraged to try one of the dinners, they are some of the best food that one can get at a restaurant in Kutztown. However, the specialty chicken wraps are also delicious, and definitely worth ordering. Don't forget to save some room for desert, as the Airport Diner has a great variety of ice cream, cakes and pies that are sure to appeal to anyone. For the Airport Diner, desert is just as good as dinner, and definitely worth waiting for.
It has often been said that people fly from far aware to get to the diner, and, indeed, it is a very popular stop for amateur pilots and flying enthusiasts. While the Airport Diner may not be the first location that comes to mind when one thinks about eating out in Kutztown, it is definitely one of the best places to get a meal anywhere near Kutztown. From the great food to the friendly and fast service, to the sheer joy of watching planes take off and land while enjoying a meal, there is really nothing about the Airport Diner not to like, truly one of the most unique places to eat in Kutztown, and definitely a restaurant that is worth visiting, no matter what one is in the mood for.
