As soon as one enters the restaurant, it becomes apparent that College Hill is a bit unique in the way that it has been set up. The bar wraps around two rooms, with one being more oriented towards family, and the other room being mostly designated for the bar-only patrons. Even though the local college kids often come by for drinks, the atmosphere is always quite and reasonable. College Hill manages to pull something off that few taverns can: allowing the diner to forget that he or she is sharing the room with a bar. From the moment that one walks through the door, the friendliness of the staff is immediately noticeable. No matter how busy College Hill may get, the waitresses and waiters still take the time to come by your table and chat for a few minutes while taking your order. Although it may seem like a simple thing, atmosphere and friendly treatment go a long ways towards providing an enjoyable dining experience.
Perhaps the only area where College Hill is lacking is in the actual menu choices. Although there are plenty of foods to choose from, there really isn't a whole lot of variety beyond appetizers and sandwiches. There are a few interesting items, and some local Greek specialties, but there is little in the way of a full meal. So, keep in mind the limited menu when choosing College Hill as your restaurant of choice. However, if one doesn't mind delicious bar food and fun appetizers, then the menu should be perfectly adequate.
Another good point here is that College Hill makes up for their limited menu by making every single choice delicious. The tavern has some great wings, and everything from the nachos to the potato skins makes a good choice. The sandwiches are prepared from fresh bread daily, and all of the food is cooked fresh when ordered. So, although there may not be any gourmet menu choices, one can rest assured that nearly every item that is on the menu is definitely worth ordering. Another aspect that really makes the restaurant enjoyable is the sheer size of the platters. When you order nachos, you get a full basket piled high with them. The wings are large, meaty and guaranteed to fill you up. Whatever you choose to order at College Hill, make sure you are ready to eat it, as you will get a lot.
No restaurant is perfect, and while College Hill Tavern may not be a gourmet dining experience, it is a great place to go with a few friends to have some drinks and split a few appetizers. A quite atmosphere, friendly staff, clean dining area, and delicious food all help to contribute to a place that really is a fun and enjoyable dining experience. For those in the Easton area, or those who are looking to try something a little different the next time they go out for a meal, the College Hill Tavern of 420 Cattell Street, Eason PA is a great all around choice, and is sure not to disappoint.
