If on Christmas Day you accidentally burn the ham or you discover in the rush of last minute shopping that you forgot to buy food, do worry, a few brave souls are staffing the slim selection of restaurants open today.

The folks at what has to be one of the best restaurants in the area, if you like Asian cuisine, has decided to stay open.

Neo-China has a reputation for being one of the best places to eat. It is only in the Triangle you will find a top notch place like this open for the holiday.

This is a sit down restaurant which may or may not be your family's style. My son always enjoyed being allowed to join us for these wonderful white table cloth restaurants. One of my daughters, on the other hand, did not like anything Asian. Now her favorite restaurant is a Japanese steak house.

Torero's Restaurant is another one of those restaurants that has a fantastic, and well deserved, reputation for good food.

This is a restaurant you will not want to eat at every day. The food is so good and plentiful that you will end up weighing more than your car.

Max can attest to gaining so much in a single sitting of the fantastic food that he went up a full buckle notch on his belt. That was in a single sitting. The food is so good that it takes a strong will to take half home. That, of course, is the right idea.

If you have never been to Torrero's, this is going to be a real treat. The folks there love children and sometimes they have a musician who will serenade the guests.

For those who like a real drink with their meal, they have a full bar.

Max wasn't able to call all restaurants in the area. If you are near a hotel with a restaurant, they are often open. The difficulty with hotels is that they may be short staffed for the day. This can mean long waits.

Twenty four hour restaurants and Asian food restaurants may be open locally, but this can be a very hit and miss situation. Max ate at a local Waffle House one Christmas with his wife. The restaurant at the hotel they were staying at in RTP had let the student waiters go home for the holiday and there was no one to cook or serve the guests.
