Restaurants in Portland, Maine's Old Port District

Old Port is a warehouse district in downtown Portland that was revitalized in the 1990s. Bordering a working waterfront, many of the restaurants and cafes offer ocean views and fresh seafood. There are several golf courses drawing travelers to the Portland area, including the Riverside Municipal Golf Course in Portland proper.

Old Port Sea Grill

Old Port Sea Grill's motto is "fresh seafood, freshly prepared." The grill strives to offer fresh seafood simply prepared so you can enjoy the rich tastes of traditional Maine fare. This casual yet elegant restaurant is on the scenic Old Port waterfront and often hosts parties and receptions. Dinner prices range from $20 to more than $30 based on current market values. Lunch entrees - including burgers, wraps and salads - are moderately priced. The majority of the menu is seafood based, but there are some non-fishy options to choose from.

Amigos Mexican Restaurant

Amigos serves up authentic Mexican fare. Go for your favorites with the "Separdos" menu; build your own tacos, enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas and more. Entrees are moderately priced and include a variety of choices and combinations. For dessert you can try traditional sopapilla or fried ice cream. Amigos hosts live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The restaurant has a fun, casual atmosphere and is popular with diners of all ages.

Brian Boru

Brian Boru is a traditional Irish pub in the Old Port district. With a warm, jovial atmosphere and set in a nonchalant brick building, Brian Boru attracts families, couples and singles alike. The menu includes a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and hearty Irish entrees. Brian Boru is open daily and has a special brunch on Sunday. Sunday afternoon and early evening (3pm to 7pm) the pub hosts live Irish music year round.

Olive Cafe

Fulfill the craving for fresh Mediterranean style cuisine at Olive Cafe. Open during weekdays for lunch and dinner and on Saturday for breakfast, brunch and dinner, this casual and cozy cafe serves up traditional Lebanese and Mediterranean fare. Start off your meal with hummus, tabouli, kalamata olives, seafood starters or a salad. During lunch you can enjoy shawarmas, wraps, full salads and freshly baked pizzas. The dinner menu adds lamb, chicken and shrimp kabobs to choose from as well as grilled Atlantic salmon. Olive Cafe is closed on Sunday.
