Restoring Color to America's Kitchens

Bringing Color and Brightness Back into Your Home

Micheal E. Brinkley
Before the new millennium began, homes across America were bright and colorful. Countertops contained colors which brought out the life in Kitchens with their colors and styles. Walls had colors other than simply white or other bland neutral paints. Cabinets had style and charm. Even appliances in homes had colors and styles which added life to the space, instead of giving the feeling that you are standing in an asylum or a hospital hallway.

What has happened to America? Americans used to be bright and cheerful people. Lately it seems that American's are converting themselves into the citizens of utopian cities in which everything is identical and the idea of self-expression is taboo and even criminal. Before we lose sight of the fact that colors are simply mediums for people to express their own personalities, we need to consider the way we allow our homes to appear.

Through the use of excessive stainless steel appliances and dull colored décor, Americans are losing themselves to a modern trend. But, there is hope for those people out there who wish to brighten their lives and their homes. Many major companies sell products which allow you to bring colors into your homes like never before. Sears for instance, one of the largest providers of household appliances, offers products such as refrigerators in colors ranging from plain white, to green, to even a bright pink!

Countertops are another form of expression in a kitchen. The modern trend which dictates the styles which many people choose for their countertops leaves you with hardly any options. If you follow this trend, you most likely have a stark white or other neutral colored countertop, even black, or one with so few colors that you can't see them without being inches away. Companies such as countertops.com and Caesar Stone offer countertops in thousands of colors and designs.

There are options for those who wish to keep color in their homes. A little research and you can recolor you kitchens and bring some life into one of the most important rooms in your home. Colors can be found in many places across America. By sacrificing a little time and money, you can have a kitchen with color and brightness restored.
