Resume Preparation: Create Your Own for Prospective Employers

Charisma
Not everyone knows how to start a resume. When applying for jobs, you hear employers ask, "Do you have a resume?" You might say "Yes" or "No," or you don't know how to make your own resume. It is not hard to do. It could be a simple resume or professional resume. You could pay someone around $35 to make you one, or you could make one on your own.

First, what is a resume? A resume is a short list of your accomplishments and work experience that you summit to employers. It tells an employer what you can offer at their business. The resume is not a substitution for an application. You still would need to complete an application and attach resume if employer requested one. Now in days employers are requesting you to post resumes online to view part of what you have to offer. Your resume should be significant and helpful. Also your resume should not go beyond one page in length.

What should you include in your resume?

The first thing you should include on your resume is your name and address. This should be on the top. When including your name and address you also need to include your zip code and phone number so they could contact you. If you have an email address this should be included also. An email address included makes your resume seem professional, because you are telling your employer that you are up to date. You also need to include on your resume Career objective. Career objective is when you let the employer know what position you are looking for. Next you would write skills and abilities. This is when you tell your employer what type of skills and abilities you have to perform the job you are applying for.

For example you might have experience in typing and short hand. This should be type under skills and abilities. Another example is you might have a special license and this should be including in this section. You should also include work experience. When you are writing your work experience you should start with the most recent job. Also you could start with the most appropriate to objective. When writing your work experience this should include dates of employment, employer, city, and state. Also very important to write the position you held working at this business. You should also write in full explanation of duties and achievements. I would also mention in the military service. This could be optional if you like. When putting down military service you should include most recent dates, Branch of service and rank. The last thing you should include on resume is education. Always use your last highest education first. This could include college, business and trade schools, and training program.

Never use initials for the schools. Always use complete names for schools. At the end of resume you should write References available upon request. .Do not include on your resume salary requirement and reason for leaving jobs this should be include at application.
