When people retire, most companies will give the person a token of appreciation from them. But if your co-worker is retiring, the best presents that person might get may be from the co-workers, not the company. Retirement baskets are another great gift idea. With the baskets you can add anything that you like and personalize it to their tastes. If the person you are giving the basket to likes to golf, you would add gold items, if they like movies, give them passes for shows, or gift certificates to rent movies. There are unlimited possibilities with baskets. These can be made at work, and again everyone can contribute to it.

Sometimes you can give more than one gift. One of the gifts can be the nice serious gift while the other can be a gag gift. Gag gifts can be tasteful and can be allot of fun. There are many gag gifts that you can give someone when they retire. The usual are canes, T-shirts, license plated that says that the person is retired. You can usually pick these up online, or at gift shops, and card shops.

Retirement is a big part of someone's life, while they may be looking forward to it a little, there is still an empty feeling that this part of their life is now done. Having your co-workers give you a party or a gift is very meaningful to the newly retired.
