Sandy Cove is a retreat center for families that has been around since 1946. It is located in Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay. Retreats at this facility are non-denominational and can accommodate 1,000 people.
Sandy Cove offers homeschoolers two convention dates per year. One in the winter and one in the summer. It is called the, "Homeschool Re-charge". This retreat is packed with activities for all age groups and gives the families a chance to re-charge for the new year. Families will be able to exchange ideas as well as hear from some excellent speakers who are considered experts in the homeschool field.
There is a nursery for small children, activities for every age group, and of course, the meetings for adults. Families can choose their accommodations since Sandy Cove has hotel rooms, Cabins, and spots for RV's. It is also set up for families so you don't have to worry about about a babysitter for the kids to attend a meeting.
The cost is very affordable for a family to attend. For this particular event, the cost is $145 per person total or $580 for any size family. That means if you have a family with six kids or ten you still only pay the $580. That $580 includes all meals as well as the hotel room. You can get an even lesser price, if you want to stay in a cabin or in your RV. If you still find the $580 a struggle, then you can apply for a scholarship for 50% off the total price. No personal information is required to obtain the scholarship.
In addition to learning new homeschool techniques, and connecting with new homeschool families, you are provided with fun activities to enjoy included in the price. You can enjoy some time as a couple or go out as a family. There is swimming, rock climbing, boating, and even a zip line. There are so many sports that I can't even list them all here.
Sandy Cove is truly one of the best retreat centers available for connecting homeschoolers. It truly does combine learning with fun.
