Silverware
Take some old "silverware" and turn it into retro kitchen hardware. This one is easy. All you need to do is drill a hoel in the ends of some forks, knives or spoons. You will then want to bend them out to make a comfortable drawer pulls or cabinet handles.
You will need to drill the hole with a metal drill bit. Now, use that red spray paint to paint each piece of retro hardware in a bright cheery retro red! So simple!
To make these retro kitchen drawer pulls fit your cabinet's try bending them first. Match up the silverware with yoru existing holes, then drill!
Painter's Tape
Ok, take a roll of painter's tape. Mask off a square or diamond around each of yoru existing kitchen cabinet hardware pieces. You may want to remove them first for this one.
Now, lightly spray the square or rectangle red with the spray paint. Let this dry.
Now, reinstall your existing kitchen hardware as before! This one is easy. If you want to buy a stencil and do this it will look even better. Look for some cherry stencils or even retro poodles.
Stencil the area behind the drawer pulls, then reinstall them! The look is awesome and costs very little. You can even make your own stencils from old card stock, laminate acetate material, or card board.
You can also make vintage looking diamonds, spade, clubs, and hearts for a vintage deck of cards look!
Transform Existing hardware
Want to give plain and simple lined existing hardware a retro hardware look? I have place metal hardware on my cabinets that look like small U's. All you need to do is measure hoe long the handles are, including the sides. Now double that.
Next, cut a strip of red fabric or vintage fabric. It should be twice as long as the handle and about 2 inches wide.
Now, fold each strip so that pattern side is together.
Sew along the long side.
Now, turn each piece of fabric inside out. Slip the pocket of fabric onto a handle. Cover each handle in the same retro fabric or different fabric. Once each piece of retro kitchen hardware is covered you can reattach them to the kitchen cabinets!
This simple idea is a great use for scraps of vintage fabric, scraps of vintage Feedsack, or even bits of retro red fabric. Hey, you can always use an old red t shirt if you have too!
By the way, if you do not feel like sewing, you could always try a heavy duty fabric glue. This retro fabric covered kitchen hardware idea is perfect for renters too!

I have GE kitchen cabinets in a rental and recently discovered after last renters moved out two of the handles on the drawers are missing. The screw span is 5-1/4 inches. Where can I get that span to replace all hardware for that kitchen.
