Return of the Living Dead Necropolis ( AKA Return of the Living Dead 4)
Once Again the Movie Moves Further from Its Original Fame.
This movie takes place a decade after the events of Return of the Living Dead 3. Charles Garrison is a scientist who is trying to buy Trioxin gas on the black market from two Russians. One of them gets turned into a zombie and eats the other due to not handling the gas correctly. Garrison then shoots him in the head and takes the gas.
Dr. Garrison is the guardian of his nephew Julian. He became his guardian after Julian's parents were killed (assumed killed) in an accident. Julian and some friends go out motor biking and one of his friends named Zeke falls and has an accident. He ends up being pronounced dead on the scene. A friend of Julian's name Katie works at Hydra tech and sees Zeke being brought in. That is the same company that Dr. Garrison works at and turns out that Zeke is to be part of some experiment with the zombies.
The group use fake ids to get into the compound were they are soon caught by Dr Garrison. He shows them were Zeke is. They discover zombies on ice. Garrison explains they are new test subjects and that Julian's parents are alive. They then ditch him and try to escape. Katie lets all the zombies loose when she tried to deactivate the alarm and Dr. Garrison decides to animate Julian's parents to send after them. His dad had his hands replaced by machine guns and his mom had hers replaced by buzz saws.
Julian gets out of there but one of his friends is eaten by Zeke and another is mistakenly shot. His friends re-kill his mom. The SWAT teams then shows up and kill the remaining zombies. Garrison is shown getting away with the gas.
If I were being chased by zombies I would want to be able to simply shoot them in the head like George Romero's zombies, but the Return of the living dead zombies have never been able to be put down so easily. That is a major change and lots of people did not like it. Peter Coyote (from Star Wars episode I) is really the only know actor in this and the acting was really not that good. The special effects a decent for a low budget movie and that is really one of the only things good that I can say about it. I would save you money and either rent this, wait for it to come on sci-fi again, or try to find a way to watch it on the net for free. I don't think it is worth buying unless you are just a collector of the Return of the Living Dead or zombie movies.
