Return of the Zombies that Ate My Internet

Joshua Cook

Last year I wrote an article called Zombies Ate My Internet! I had a blast writing it, and usually do always have zombies on the mind, so I figured why not go back and see what cool zombie internet gems are out there.

Since I have been working hard on my own zombie internet infection (check us out at ZombieACRES.com), I have come across some really cool and interesting zombie sites and projects floating around cyberspace. In the next couple pages I will point you in the direction of some really cool zombie sites, articles, art, and the likes. I hope you enjoy this article as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you.

The first site I want to point out is LostZombies.com. In their own words, 'Lost Zombies is a zombie themed social network whose goal is to create a community generated zombie movie'. It does look like submissions are over, as this project has been going on for three years now. They are now ready to sift through their best footage and start piecing together a movie. Even though you can't submit any of your survivor pieces, you can still register and be kept in the loop and the movie making process. Plus, it is fun to go through and check out everyone's videos and stories.

One of my favorite parts of the Lost Zombies website is all of the amazing amateur make up effects these fans come up with. One of my favorite videos features a mother and her daughters showing off some amazing wounds and bites, showing that zombies CAN be a family affair. Or there is this picture of a zombie who just wants a little kiss. You will also find confessionals from survivors who have fought the undead hoards during the apocalypse and won... and lost. 'I was bit, but it is only a flesh wound' claims one victim, hoping her fate would be different than the rest of the victims on Lost Zombies.com.

Next up is The Dead Must Die. This video series about two lazy gamers who get caught in a zombie apocalypse will have you rolling on the floor. The director, Mathew Snyman, is passionate about film-making and has the privilege of being called Kevin Smith's worst enemy... by Kevin Smith himself. As far as The Dead Must Die and it's heroes, Steve 1 and Steve 2, are concerned, their journey is just beginning. With only three episodes done at this point, I am excited to see where they are going to go in the future.

Who the heck wants some cool zombie art? At times they even come complete with blood, guts, and gore. I would love to show you some of these pictures and artwork, but I will have to be content with pointing you in the artists' direction and letting them wow your socks off with their skills.

This first artist has some really nice stuff, though only a small portion is his Zombie Apocalypse series. Chris Miller deals primarily in digital art, with some very beautiful and colorful pieces. His Zombie Apocalypse series only has four pieces in it, but each one is a gem. The zombies in his art have a cartoon-ish look to them, but not in a cheesy sort of way. Chris gives these zombies a ghoul quality, with the glowing, green eyes and rounded heads; but there is always a ferocity to these undead creatures as their snarling teeth will show.

Dave Cook is an artist that proudly claims 'I Draw Monsters' on his website idrawmonsters.com. Zombies and creepy creatures are not the only things Dave Cook likes to draw and sell. He also has a decent collection of Rollerderby Girl and Pinup Girlie type of artwork. All of his art has a more detailed, and rougher look and feel to it than Chris Miller's; with the monsters being monsters and the girls being girls. A lot of these are shown in an old-school post sort of way; reminding me of the band posters kids would post in the seventies for bands like The Ramones.

As I have said before, these are just suggestions of cool zombie places on the net. This is not the best or definitive list out there by any means. I am always on the hunt for cool new zombie stuff, so feel free to comment below and let us know what you have founf online.
