Returned from Disney World with the Granddaughter: A Review

Disney is Still Amazing

The trip to Disney World was a wonderful time but the first time with the granddaughter could not be any less. The Disney Express from Orlando International was very efficient and my wife and Ellie traveled on the bus which they both enjoyed. The convenience of taking them straight to the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa on the grounds of Disney World would be appreciated by anyone flying in. I wanted a rental car so I rented one from Alamo for a week, thinking I could save a little. The bad news is if you turn the car in early you get penalized and Alamo charges you the highest daily rate so you end up paying a lot more than if you shopped for the best daily rate. My advice is don't rent by the week unless you intend to keep it a week. In the past, I have rented cars for longer periods and then had to return early. You usually get a credit for days not used. The weekly rental returned early puts a stiff penalty on you and the amazing thing is it is in the fine print and so when you question it you find out you have agreed unknowingly.

A definite rip off since Alamo now has the car to rent to someone else and get more money.

The Grand Floridian Hotel is outstanding in every way. The service is the quality you would expect at a resort hotel from Bell captains to food service. The restaurants are excellent and I don't think they were expensive given the quality of the service and food.

We made it to Magic Kingdom twice and Animal Kingdom and Epcot and Sea World on the side. I had not been in over twenty years and 4 days will never allow you to even make a dent in the activities. The Character Dinner with Cinderella and Prince Charming was delightful. Ellie enjoyed the Wonderland Tea party at the Floridian and she had her makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and loved it.

The time Spent with my granddaughter was priceless and we enjoyed every minute. If you are like me and haven't been in a long time, it is still well worth the expense.
