Rev Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church: Do Not Come to Tinley Park!
My Open Letter to Rev. Phelps and the Members of the Church
Rev. Phelps and To All Church Members:
I am a member of the southside community where Sara Szafranski lived.
I am asking you to not come to picket this young woman's death, and to show some mercy for her parents and relatives and friends. Do so as Jesus would -- show mercy. And respect for the Dead.
What if this were your daughter, given to you as a gift by God?
Remember, the Lord Almighty is a righteous God, and you will have to answer for every word.
You will answer in Heaven, but you will also answer on Earth.
Your church will be better served by remembering Sarah and her family in prayer and sacrifice, rather than casting the first stones.
Remember, Jesus wrote in the dust when the young adulterous woman was about to be stoned. Jesus wrote, and the crowd backed off.
Do you know what He wrote?
May the Peace of Almighty God be upon you, and give you understanding beyond all words.

Post a CommentGood admonition here. For centuries, theologians have pondered what Jesus may have written in the dirt, as He confronted the stoning crowd. Perhaps he listed THEIR sins. Maybe it was a blessing. Possibly, a prayer. Could be, He was merely waiting for them to give Him their full attention. At any rate, we DO know that He was hardest on the legalistic religious folks than those who owned up to their own sins. Thanks for the reminder here! ;-)
