Revelation Dance Company of Atlanta Comes to Lawrenceville, GA
An Interview with Co-Founder Robyn Person-Jackson
Lawrenceville, GA 30043
United States of America
I have known Robyn Person-Jackson for about 3 years now and not only does she profess to be a woman of God, but her life reflects the imagine of Christ. I had the great fortune of seeing her dance ministry first hand at a Prayer and Worship Celebration at the Gwinnett Center two years ago and it blessed my soul.
This statuesque beauty dances with such an anointing and grace that I was instantly taken away to another place. Just recently Robyn became a licensed minister at News Mercies Christian Church. Robyn and Richelle are sponsoring a fundraising free concert at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church at Faith Hall, located at 182 Hunter Street, Norcross, Georgia 30071 at 6:30 p.m.
Some of the special featured guests are the Revelation Dance Company, Taylor Bradley of Roswell City Dance, and the New Mercies Christian Church Dance.
Today I sat down to find out a little bit more about The Revelation Dance Theatre of Atlanta.
AC: Hello Robyn thanks so much for talking with Associate Content today. Let's begin at the beginning, tells us about your background in Dance.
RP-J: I began my formal training in dance at the age of 14 at the Venettes Cultural Workshop in Long Island, NY. When I turned 16 I was accepted into the Long Island school for performing arts.
AC: Did you go on to work with a dance company?
RP-J: Yes, as a matter of fact, in 1983 I was awarded a 4 year scholarship with the Prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance theatre school of dance. In my 3rd year I was asked to perform with the company.
AC: That must have been exciting. Did you get to travel much?
RP-J: I had the wonderful opportunity to travel the US and Europe as a featured soloist in several ballets as a member of the "Dance Brazil" Dance Company.
AC: How did meeting Christ affect your secular Dance career?
RP-J: I was called into the ministry as a minister of dance in 1990 and yes, I changed partners from dancing for the world to dancing for Christ. I began serving as a Director, co-Director and Lead Choreographer over several ministries, both in New York and Georgia. God continues to enlarge my territory and anointing, as I continue to share the gospel abroad as an "Evangelist of Dance". God continues to use me as a minister, facilitator and choreographer at various churches and conferences throughout the United States.
I feel that I am most effective when I dance in the prophetic. "When there is no choreography and you just allow God to move in and through you - that's when the real ministry goes forth. God takes me to another level, a place where I can't hear nor see anyone. It's a whole different realm. He just takes over this temple and Robyn disappears as he moves me into the spirit realm. It's amazing to come back into my flesh after the ministry has gone forth and see the healing and deliverance that derived by the unction of the Holy Spirit!" God has truly equipped me for spiritual warfare as I battle for the saints through the ministry of dance.
AC: It sounds as though God has really put His hand on you and is using you for His glory. Can you tell us a little bit about your partner in the Revelation Dance Theatre of Atlanta?
RP-J: Yes, her name is Richelle N. Kirkland and she graduated from Atlanta's Avondale High School of Performing Arts. She later went on to attend Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts in Dance Education including a P-12 Teachers Cerfriciation.
Richelle later became an instructor for the dance programs at Atlanta's historic Spellman College, The Gwinnett County Recreational Center, Dance and Arts Showcase, and the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education.
Richelle is actually the founder of the Revelation Dance Theater of Atlanta. We were both working separately to birth our vision for a school. I was operating under Anointed Praise Academy of the Performing Arts. Knowing that we couldn't handle the vision alone, we began to seek partnership. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anyone that shared the passion of our vision.
One day while talking, we began to reveal to each other what God had placed in our hearts and found that our visions were identical! We knew that this was God ordained! Under the unction of the Holy Spirit, we combined our business plans and decided to continue under Revelation, as a dance company was in place already.
AC: It sounds as though together you two have a wealth of knowledge and Experience in Dance. Tell us what you and Richelle hope to get across to the world regarding your Dance Company.
RP-J: We are a dance company where the art of dance is taught to all races, genders and age groups. Our students can worship God and have fun through ballet, jazz, tap, ethnic and modern dance.
AC: That sounds like a wonderful thing! So Robyn, tell the world where they can sign up for dance lessons with your company.
RP-J: They can send an email to Revelationdance@yahoo.com or they can contact us via phone: Robyn 770-601-0512, Richelle at 770-715-1108
AC: If you could leave our readers with some final words of wisdom. What would they be?
RP-J: Write the vision and make it plain! God is not a man that he should lie. If He birthed it in you, he will make the provisions for its manifestation! Richelle and I ask that you continue to keep Revelation Dance Theatre in prayer. We are here to serve you, please email or call us and let us know what you would like to find at RDT.
AC: Thanks so much for taking time out and speaking with me today Robyn. I pray that God continue to bless you and Richelle and enlarge your territory!
