Reverse Cell Phone Lookup - Access the Same Information Used by the FBI

Jack Travers
I am sure that nearly everyone has had a the need or the desire to be able to look up the name of someone who was calling us from an unidentified phone number. This is particularly necessary as the proliferation of cell phones continues to accelerate. A land based line can quickly and easily be looked up via a number of the free phone number lookup services that are available on the internet but until recently, cell phones were not accessible to the general public.

Cell phone lookup was previously only available to the police or the FBI but that has recently changed and now these restricted databases are accessible to the general public. That means that you can now easily find out who is calling you, even from a cell phone.

Is it Complicated?

The first thing you may be thinking is this must be complicated. If we are talking accessing a database then it must be difficult right. Wrong. Take comfort in knowing that it is actually quite simple and as long as you have at least some computer skills, meaning you can fill out a form online, then you will be able to access the system. The only catch is that this type of information is not given out online for free like publicly published telephone numbers.

You can access them very quickly and easily on the internet, as long as you are willing to pay a small fee for that privilege. There are a number of websites that are sprouting up that offer this kind of information but be an informed consumer, most of them currently lead you along and make it seem like this access is going to be free. It is not and currently will not be made free because cell phones are private and not publicly published information like land based phone numbers.

These small specialized companies have to pay the cell phone companies for this data, so you can't blame them for wanting to recoup some of that investment. They just need to be more honest about the fees in our opinion.

How Does it Work?

It's really quite easy, you simply log into one of the many websites available offering this service and follow the directions. The first thing you need to do is fill out the phone number you are looking for and the service will tell you whether it is in the database or not. This ensures you that you don't have to pay unless they can produce the number. Once you know they have a listing, you enter your payment information and you are given access to the name that is registered to that number. Simple and easy.

From our own experience, it is quite rare that a number will not be in the database and the sites claim that 98% of cell phone numbers are listed. So the only time you should have an issue getting a number is if it is brand new or from a tiny regional type carrier. The database is updated often so you almost have instant access to this formerly unattainable information.

Pricing varies but it seems that the average cost is approximately $1 dollar at the time this article was written. So the only thing stopping you from finding out who that annoying phone call is coming from is a few minutes of your time. Find out who is on the other end of the phone in just minutes.

You can try a Reverse Cell Phone Lookup here. We are not associated with that site in any way and are simply using it as an example.
