Series 2 features many of the same insert sets as Series 1, making Series 2 a must for collectors of Series 1.
2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball also features several of its own sets that were not a part of Series 1.
2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball includes the return of Topps very popular Mickey Mantle Collection. The Mickey Mantle cards in 2007 Topps Series 2 include the always popular Home Run History cards and some exclusive Mantle relics.
The Mantle Home Run History cards are for home runs 302-401 that Mantle hit during his baseball career.
Along with Mantle, another famous Yankee, Joe DiMaggio, will also have his own sets in 2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball. There will be sets honoring his hitting streaks during the 1933 and 1941 baseball seasons.
The basic set of 2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball includes 260 veterans cards, 30 rookie cards, 15 team cards, 15 manager cards, and 10 combo cards.
2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball has three parallel sets, which are first edition, platinum, and gold parallels. First edition parallels are hobby only. Gold Parallels are numbered out of 2007. Platinum parallels are 1 of 1's.
Series 2 is filled with insert sets, making the overall chance of pulling an insert better than one out of every two packs.
The following insert sets combine to be inserted one in every two packs. They are a 15-card Hobby Exclusive Topps Stars set, a 15-card Opening Day set, a 25-card Trading Places set, a 30-card Hit Parade set, a 25-card Alex Rodriguez Road to 500 set, and a 50-card Home Run Derby Contest set. The Home Run Derby cards are numbered out of 999.
The Joe DiMaggio insert sets are inserted two in every nine packs. The sets are a 56-card The Streak set and a 61-card The Streak Before the Streak Hobby Only set.
Mickey Mantle Collection sets are inserted one out of every six packs. The Mantle sets are a 15-card Mickey Mantle story set, a 100-card Mantle Home Run History set, a 100-card Mickey Mantle Home Run History Relics set, which are numbered out of 7, and a Mickey Mantle 1953 Reprint, which is numbered out of 53.
A 10-card Distinguished Service insert set will be inserted one in twelve packs with a 60-card Distinguished Service Cuts parallel set that will all be 1 of 1's.
A 196-card Generation Now insert set will be inserted one in four packs with each card in the set having autographed parallels.
Other autograph sets in 2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball will be a 38-card 2006 Highlights set, a 10-card Trading Places set, and a 25-card Alex Rodriguez Road to 500 set with all 25 cards being 1 of 1's.
The relic sets in 2007 Topps Series 2 Baseball will be a 33-card 2006 Highlights set and a 10-card Trading Places set.
While it will be difficult for 2007 Topps Series 2 to live up to the popularity of Series 1, it has a lot of nice sets for collectors, which will give it a chance.
