Review of the 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition

Jennifer Habersham
I want to start off by saying I know nothing about cars, absolutely nothing. Now, I'm not one of those women who bat their eyes, point their toes in, curl their blonde hair around their fingers all the while smiling with a vacant stare in their eyes. In other words I don't play dumb. I swear I don't, okay sometimes I do but when it comes to vehicles I don't. I honestly know nothing about cars and I don't care to learn. So instead of boring you with all the specs for the 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition that are available on the manufactures website, I will share with you my personal experience.

Exterior

The 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition body has changed quite a bit since the Ford Escape's introduction in 2001. The grill is now much larger, resembling that of a Ford Expedition. In fact this SUV looks like a small Ford Expedition on a whole. The Ford Escape comes with a runner for those people who need a little step up when getting into the SUV. There are front and rear windshield wipers (this was a first for me so it was pretty exciting) and the 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition also comes equipped with key less entry and a numeric keypad if you prefer to lock or unlock your vehicle that way. This car also comes with tinted windows.

Interior

The 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition comes with an all leather interior and an entertainment system panel that looks more like the control panel that belongs in an airplane rather than a sports utility vehicle. The Ford Escape comes equipped with Sirius Satellite Radio, a six disk compact disk player, an Am/FM radio, and a special input jack to plug your IPod or other component in to. I am not sure what the console is made out of but it's black and has a very high gloss. It looks very sharp and clean and goes beautiful with the tan leather interior.

The 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition also comes with power locks, power windows, a driver side power seat (meaning that it moves forward, back, up, down at a push of the button). There is also a power sunroof. There is a digital display of how many miles your have traveled (trips A and B are available) as well as a display of how many miles you can travel before you will need to refill your gas tank. You can also get a display on what level your oil is at and if your breaks are working properly.

The Important Things

I was very worried about purchasing another SUV because of the rising cost of gas prices. I have found that the 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition gets around 350 miles to a tank of gas (and that is driving in town). I am averaging about 21.6 miles to a gallon of gas. The drive is very smooth although the breaks seem to be somewhat "soft".

I live in Georgia which means that if your vehicle has been sitting outside for at least an hour, when you get into your SUV it is going to be extremely hot to say the very least. What is nice about the 2008 Ford Escape is that the car cools down very quickly. I would say that the entire car was cooled down within 3 minutes of turning the air conditioner on.

Drawbacks

The only drawback with the 2008 Ford Escape Limited Edition is that there is no DVD system or Navigational system. You can have a navigational system installed which will run you about another $2500 or so. I don't know about you but I'll stick with my handy dandy paper map.
