Review of the 2008 Pontiac G6 Coupe

Henry Palange
Here we have a very appealing car with both nice lines and a great stance. Pontiac showcases the 3.6 L engine with 252 hp, a six speed automatic transmission featuring driver shift control, and a remote starter system. The GXP model comes in at around $26,645. Pontiac also offers the GT model at around $23,045. The GT model showcases a 3.5 L engine putting out 219 hp backed up by a four speed automatic transmission. The G6 sets low, looks good, has an impressive throttle response, and hugs the road rather nicely. The inside of the G6 has a nice look and feel, they give you plenty of room with a sporty look. Both models come equipped with a 16 gallon fuel tank and seating capacity for four people.

Estimated miles per gallon for both vehicles with either engine is 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Pontiac didn't win any points for fuel mileage here. For the dedicated Pontiac fan, this one may win your hearts over. As for the folks comparing Pontiac's offering of the G6 to that of the competition, I don't feel Pontiac has accomplished victory in this category.

Pontiac has indeed made a very sharp looking car that is comfortable to drive, with plenty of power and hugs the road rather nicely. However, there is a downside here in regards to options. Competitors have included most of the options in their base price that are all extras here. Additionally, with the current cost of fuel, miles per gallon is also a contributing factor. Personally I like these cars very much. If I were to have one with everything that I would want to make me happy, I could save a considerable amount of money going elsewhere. Ultimately, Pontiac is relying on the loyalty factor that is unfortunately diminishing in today's society. Comparing apples to apples the choice is pretty clear in this case. On a scale of one to 10 I give this one a 7.5. The contributing factors for this are fuel mileage and of the fact that they nickel and dime you to death on all the options that are standard with some models offered by the competition.
