Lady Gaga came out the big winner at the 2010 MTV VMA's, taking home eight awards including Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year for 'Bad Romance'.

When her name was announced as winner of Best Pop Video, she had to be helped up and then had a problem making her way on stage due to the dress she was wearing. Lady Gaga admitted to not thinking through the dress thing, but at least she finally managed to get on stage and make her acceptance speech.

"I didn't really quite think all the wins through. This outfit is too heavy to walk in," Gaga said.

Lady Gaga's "Meat" dress:

What was Lady Gaga thinking with the meat dress she was wearing when she accepted her award for Best Video of the Year? I'm still scratching my head on that one, but for now the jury is out.

MTV Style says the meat dress was made of real meat. The dresses designer, Franc Fernandez told them, "The dress is indeed real meat from my family butcher. Glad it went so well."

According to TMZ, PETA says, "After time spent under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh that it is and likely be crawling in maggots."

Gaga, dear, there are better ways to make a political statement than by wearing your dinner draped over your body. I'm going to guess the shoes she wore were also made of real meat. Gross.

Eminem was also a big winner having won Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video for 'Not Afraid':

Eminem has come a long way from his early days when his music was controversial and full of anger towards the women in his life. He appears to have gotten past that and has really come into his own as a musician. Eminem deserved these wins.

Taylor Swift Performs Song about Kanye West, 'Innocent':

Taylor Swift performed during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. The performance began with a montage from the 2009 MTV VMA's playing on an old television set after the announcement of Taylor's win followed by Kanye West storming the stage, taking the mic away out of her hands, and blurting out that Beyonce' had the best video of all time.

Taylor then launches into what can only be described as a beautifully written song, 'Innocent', that Swift is known for. One would think she would have sliced and diced West and raked him over the coals; but instead, it
sounded like she was accepting his apology, extending an olive branch, and putting the past where it belongs - this was a song about forgiveness, delivered in a way true to Swift's own character.

Taylor sang: "Who you are is not what you did." She added, "32 is still growing up now ... you're still an innocent."

"Everyone of us has messed up, too. I hope you remember today is never too late to be brand new."

'Innocent' will be included on Swift's new album, 'Speak', due to be released in October.

Perhaps all the nastiness of the last year can finally be put to rest and the debacle planted firmly in MTV VMA history books.

Kanye West Performs 'Runaway' and Tells Us to Toast the Scumbags:

Kanye West was the final act to perform at the 2010 MTV VMA's and the song, 'Runaway', was obviously not the one he wrote for Taylor. Instead, Kanye tells us to toast d***** bags, scumbags, and a**holes but in some ways, he was singing about himself. Maybe we will finally see a new and improved Kanye now that he has accepted responsibility for his actions.

This wasn't a great song by any stretch of the imagination, but it was nice to see Kanye pull himself back up by his bootstraps and get back on stage for this event. At the end of his set, he walked off stage as the audience chanted, "Kanye."

The 2010 MTV VMA's were all I hoped it would be this year and Chelsea Handler did an amazing job hosting the evening. Her sense of humor was great and she didn't disappoint me. You have to admit, though her jokes were a bit over the top, she was funny.

I have many favorite Chelsea Handler moments from the MTV VMA's, but I especially liked her encounter with Lindsay Lohan who slaps her around, tells her to stop drinking, slaps her on the butt, and tells Chelsea not to embarrass her. Classic!
