Review of ABC's The View: What's in Store for Fall 2007?

When I heard Whoopi Goldberg was going to be a regular on The View I was ecstatic...To tell you the truth I almost stopped watching the show when the whole controversy started with Rosie O'Donnell and she eventually left. I really found her quite interesting and thought she added a necessary viewpoint to the mix of the show...

I guess they too didn't know who to replace her with so experimented with different co-hosts for a few months...When Whoopi was a guest on the show it was always at its best, in my humble opinion, that is, but apparently it wasn't just me who thought so, since she has now become a member of the panel...

I have a somewhat personal history with Whoopi since 10 years ago I was her "aunt-in-law"...it's a long story, but when she was married to my nephew, I was privileged to get to know her and spent some fascinating quality time with her...so much so, that at first I didn't think she would even be interested in being a permanent member of the view, due to her strong independent nature ....I am so glad I was wrong!

The View has received multiple Emmy's and for good reason...each day the panel of hostesses, Whoopi, Joy Behar, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Barbara Walters, who also is the co-executive producer, and the newest addition, Sherri Shepherd have the most interesting gabfest on the air...They all have quite a diversified opinion about subjects that range from politics to sex and when they open each days show with what they call "Hot Topics" you just know the conversation will get quite interesting and controversial..

Sometimes it can get very heated as well, since Whoopi and Joy are very liberal in their thinking, while it is just the opposite with Elizabeth and now Sherri...Barbara seems to be more on the liberal side in these discussions, though she isn't on every show...I have to admit there have been quite a few times I wanted to throw something at Elisabeth but then I would only break my TV.. Lately there have been times I have felt that way about Sherri, especially the other day when she stated she doesn't believe the earth is round during a conversation they were having about her disbelief in evolution...she had since come back to state she was misquoted...

Anyway, the show this year, its 11th year, will prove to be an interesting one I'm sure. So far they have had some interesting guests and quite a few good hot topics about all the headlines going on in the entertainment world and of course the political world as well...News begets news, and there will certainly be more headlines to dissect as each day passes..

One funny segment that has made headlines was when Whoopi was searching for the "Perfect Bra",...she had stated she never wanted to wear one in the past but now that she is on the View she finds it appropriate to do so...It was hilarious as they demonstrated the bras that were available for all kinds of bodies....including hers..There is a website now called Whoopi's bras!

To be a member of the audience is also a treat. It seems each day everyone goes home with a gift of some sort...sometimes multiple gifts that have something to do with one of the segments, like "Whoopi's Favorite Things" Last week the lucky audience received each and every one of the items she demonstrated and gave praise to...

The New fall show of The View this year has proven so far to be an excellent one and has already created some controversy of it's own....I know every day, when I am home at 11:00 A.M.,I stop whatever I'm doing to plop myself down in front of my TV...I just don't carry anything to throw at the set...
