Review of Adam Lambert's Final Performance on American Idol

Aired 20th May 2009

The highly anticipated night for all American Idol fans finally came with Adam Lambert in the finals. It's no surprise Adam has gotten this far in the competition since he has always been pegged as one of the best of the season 8.

Adam kicked off the competition with his rendition of "Mad World" by Tears For Fears which is to date, one of his most notable performances on American Idol. He appeared in a clean cut suit but managed to rock his eyeliner in his classic Adam Lambert style. Adam's performance was brilliant and not to mention, dramatic as always and scored high with the judges. Adam is just one of those people who can sing just about anything you throw at him. His high range vocals and personal touch made the song even better than the original. When he sings, his soul shines through. It's just beautiful.

Adam's second song was the hit by Sam Cooke, "A Change Is Gonna Come", which consequently reminded me of Barack Obama's inauguration speech. Oh, how the times have changed, haven't they? I believe it was a great song choice, not only because of Adam's prowess as a singer and performer but because the song itself sends a very positive message, especially in these times where we continue to face adversities in our daily lives. Once again, Adam has proven that not only is he a great performer but he is also a very talented musician with his brilliant song arrangement.

Adam's last song for the night was "No Boundaries" written by none other than the very talented American Idol judge, Ms. Kara DioGuardi. I believe Ms. DioGuardi is a very exceptional song writer that deserves more credit for her work. After all, she's written a number of hits to date.

I did not know the song but Adam captured me within the first few seconds of his performance. I find myself speechless. Truly, Adam Lambert is a phenomenon outperforming himself with every performance that he makes.

Since the beginning of the competition, I had no doubt that Adam would make it to the finals and be the American Idol of Season 8. However, at this point, whether or not he really does get the title, it doesn't really matter. Adam Lambert already has a great career ahead of him as he has been consistent in proving himself more than worthy of a record deal.

GO ADAM!
