Review: Adam Lambert's 'Play that Funky Music'

Watch out Axel Rose, here comes Adam Lambert. His performance on March 31 of Play That Funky Music by the Wild Cherries was the best performance by far. For two weeks he has been the top performer with singing The Tracks of My Tears for the tribute to Motown . If the competition ended today I think Adam would be the next American Idol. Last week he showed a completely different side of himself that I was amazed by.

By changing his look last week and singing from the heart he showed great respect for Motown. Every week Adam surprises me and I look forward to finding out which song he has chosen. Tonight I was nervous when I heard it was going to be Play That Funky Music but again Adam pulled it off like only he can. He is very original and not afraid to take risks. Tonight the band and arrangement were awesome.

Adam has a tremendous vocal range and shows it every week. He version of Ring of Fire a couple of weeks ago got mixed reviews from viewers and although people didn't like it you got to give him credit for trying something different and not playing it safe. Even though some of the judges gave him negative criticism for that song he took that criticism and helped himself improve.

He takes the judges advice and he tries to make each song his own. He is a true entertainer, he has a great stage presence and gets the audience involved. He looks completely comfortable on stage and looks like he is actually having fun. As Simon said tonight what Adam did was a risk and I am glad that it paid off for him.

Simon also said that the competition was very karaoke up until then and he was absolutely right. When Adam comes up to sing you know he really singing with all that he has. I also give him credit because he was the only performer tonight to acknowledge the band and thank them.
