When many people think about visiting Homer, Alaska for the first time, they often picture in their minds sleeping in secluded and rustic log homes, cabins or even igloos made out of ice or snow. However, in reality, most people living in Homer today reside in stylish or unique homes or cabins and enjoy all the wonderful indoor conveniences that most people share when living in a modern dwelling.
However, for those lucky adventurers who seek to experience staying in a modern cabin in Homer, Alaska, they will not have to look very far to do it. Alaska by the Sea Cabins offers two private cabins, one private cottage and two private homes available for guests to rent.
The two private cabins that are available to guests are "Abby's Bay View Cabin" and "Twin Puffins Cabin". The two private homes available to guests are "Tim and Mary's Place" and "Alaska by the Sea Vacation Home Rental". The one private cottage that is available to guests is "Anna's Guest House".
The "Alaska by the Sea Vacation Home Rental" is a private home on two acres of property that offers breathtaking vistas of beautiful 10,000 ft. mountain peaks and sparkling snowy white glaciers that are located on the far side of Kachemak Bay.
The entire house can accommodate a maximum of 12 people with a telephone available in each room. The house also offers a very large private deck and a barbeque grill for outdoor dining that complements with an amazing view of Kachemak Bay. The home also offers Wireless DSL Internet access and there is no host inside the house. However, a host lives on the same property of the home in case guests have any questions, problems or a sudden emergency.
The second private home for guests is "Tim and Mary's Place", which is a 1,000 square foot two-bedroom house that is located just five miles east of downtown Homer. The home is on a residential two-acre-lot subdivision and framed by natural Alaskan alder and vegetation.
The home is also 1,000 feet from the main road leading to it and it faces the famous Grewinck glacier, which is located ten miles across Kachemak Bay.
The wonderful interior of "Tim and Mary's Place" begins with the enormous 12 x 14 ft. kitchen with large windows overlooking an outdoor deck and a perfectly manicured lawn. Included in the kitchen are a stove, an oven, pots and pans. The beautiful kitchen then opens up into the living room area that has an open ceiling to a cozy second story reading/writing nook.
The first bedroom inside the home offers a king size bed and the second bedroom offers two twin beds that can be mad up into a single king size bed. There is also a foldout couch in the living room that can sleep one adult or two children and a second couch that can sleep one person. There is also a television and a VCR/DVD combo located in the living room, but there is no reliable cable or regular television reception.
There is a grill located on the main outdoor deck of "Tim and Mary's Place" and the home includes a freezer that has four 16" x 9" x 22" shelves for freezing and storing any locally caught fish in the waters of Kachemak Bay. The charming home also has potable hot and cold water, a shower/bath combo, a flush toilet, a washer and dryer for your clothes, a mud room and even a swing set for young children.
Located about ten miles east of downtown Homer is "Abby's Bay View Cabin", which is a very cozy two-story cabin that offers spectacular views of Kachemak Bay and actually sits on an original Alaskan pioneer homestead. The private cabin is within easy driving distance of several wonderful outdoor recreational opportunities including horseback riding, green house touring, kayaking, fishing, hiking, shopping and art gallery shopping.
Inside "Abby's Bay View Cabin", you will discover a place that can easily accommodate up to four guests with a queen size bed in the upper level of the cabin and a queen size pull out futon in the lower level. The cabin also offers a three-quarter bathroom and a fully stocked kitchenette and dining area.
You will also discover many other wonderful amenities inside "Abby's Bay View Cabin". Such items include a propane range and oven, a microwave, a small refrigerator, a chest freezer, an outdoor gas grill, outdoor table and chairs for picnics, a VCR/DVD player, a CD player, a quality Alaskan library of books and a non-cable hook-up TV that only receives local television stations.
Located about seven miles out East End Road from downtown Homer is "Twin Puffins Cabin", which is an authentic log cabin in the rolling scenic hills of Homer that offers fantastic panoramic vistas of Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Mountains.
The "Twin Puffins Cabin" offers beautiful French front doors that open unto a large private wooden deck and surrounded by the relaxing sights and sounds of flowers, blossoming Fireweed, berries, birds and other wildlife roaming in the woods nearby.
The interior of "Twin Puffins Cabin" is a very warm and rich mixture of natural golden hues of native Alaskan spruce. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size microwave, a stove/oven combo and an automatic dishwashing machine. There is also a wonderful futon-style sofa in the living room for additional guests and a washing machine and dryer for washing your clothes.
There are two very comfortable rooms inside the "Twin Puffins Cabin". The first room is the master bedroom which offers a king size bed and a standard size bathroom and bathtub. The second room offers a twin size bed and a smaller bathroom with a large shower.
There is also a satellite TV, a flat panel TV with surround sound and a DVD player in each bedroom. There are also a small selection of movies and some board games to help keep guests entertained, if they choose to stay indoors.
If you are looking for a beautiful cozy little private cottage that is located within the city limits of Homer and is within easy walking distance of local restaurants, art galleries, grocery stores and the beach, then you should consider staying at "Anna's Guest House".
"Anna's Guest House" is a cottage that can accommodate up to four people comfortably and offers a private yard in an older neighborhood section in Homer. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a small living room area where you can relax and read books, magazines, newspapers or enjoy the peace and tranquility of the sounds of Mother Nature.
